Abstract
ABSTRACT The title of this research is “Piano Pop Learning Grade 1 For Adolescent Students At Yovie Music School Bandung”. The things revaled and described in this research is about learning activities and mastery of grade I piano material for adolescent students at Yovie Music School Bandung which is associated with Monks et al’s theory. To answer all the research, data was collected through descriptive methods using a qualitative approach. Data collection techniques used include literature study, observation, interviews, and documentation. Based on the results of the study, it shows that there are several learning activities carried out by adolescent students in learning piano pop grade 1, there are visual activities, oral activities, listening activities, writing activities, motor activities, and mental activities. In addition, students can master the piano pop grade 1 material through proving that they can make scales and triads, melodic patterns and rhythm patterns through reading and playing popular musics, understand the scale degree through identifying chords in popular musics and being able to guess the notes in solfegio activities. So, the theory of Monks et al (1999), which states that adolescents have not been able to master their physical and psychological abilities, is not in accordance with learning piano pop grade 1 at Yovie Music School Bandung because adolescent students are able to master grade 1 piano pop material, both physically and psychologically. Keywords : Learning, Pop Piano, Adolescent Students, Yovie Music School Bandung, Monks et al theory
