Abstract

ABSTRAK Dalam masa pandemi COVID-19, kegiatan PPLSP yang semula pembelajaran tatap muka berubah menjadi pembelajaran daring. Popularitas WhatsApp mendorong mahasiswa untuk menggunakan WhatsApp dalam pembelajaran daring mata pelajaran seni budaya. WhatsApp merupakan salah satu jejaring sosial berbasis chat yang dipakai dalam pembelajaran daring di masa pandemi COVID-19. WhatsApp merupakan salah satu alternatif pilihan aplikasi pembelajaran yang tepat di masa pandemi yang menerapkan pembelajaran daring karena WhatsApp adalah aplikasi yang sederhana dan mudah dalam pengoperasiannya. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui penggunaan, manfaat, dan tantangan yang dirasakan oleh mahasiswa PPLSP dalam menggunakan WhatsApp dalam pembelajaran daring mata pelajaran seni budaya. Metode yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif dan desain penelitian adalah survei. Data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner yang dibagikan kepada 68 mahasiswa yang telah melaksanakan PPLSP Kependidikan S1 Semester Genap 2020/2021. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini menggunakan statistik deskriptif dengan memfokuskan pada nilai rata-rata dan persentase tiap butir angket. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa mahasiswa PPLSP selalu menggunakan WhatsApp untuk berkomunikasi dengan siswa dengan 63,24%. Mahasiswa PPLSP juga sangat setuju dari manfaat fitur berbagi tautan, berbagi file (PDF, dokumen, spreadsheet, slideshow, dan lain-lain), dan grup dengan nilai rata-rata 4,49, 4,44, 4,34. Adapun tantangan yang dihadapi, mahasiswa PPLSP setuju dengan kurangnya keseriusan siswa dalam berdiskusi. ABSTRACT During the COVID-19 pandemic situation, the learning method that is conducted throughout the pre-service teacher program is shifted from face-to-face to online learning. The popularity of WhatsApp forces college students to use the application in the cultural arts subject online learning. WhatsApp is a text-based social media that can be used in online learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is an appropriate alternative for online learning application during pandemic as WhatsApp supports simplicity and easiness in its usage. The purpose of this study is to find out the use, the benefits, and the challenges that were encountered by the pre-service teachers in utilizing WhatsApp during the online learning of cultural arts subject. This study employed a quantitative research method and survey as the research design. The data were obtained through questionnaire that was distributed to 68 students who had conducted the teaching practicum program for undergraduate education in the semester of 2020/2021. Descriptive statistics was used to analyse the data which was focused on the average and percentage of every questionnaire item. The results showed that the pre-service teachers always use WhatsApp to communicate with their students as this item got 63.24%. The pre-service teachers also strongly agree in regard to the benefits in features such as link sharing, file sharing (PDF, document, spreadsheet, slideshow, etc) and group with the average 4.49, 4.44, 4.34 respectively. The pre-service teachers also agree with the challenges such as the students’ lack of seriousness during discussion.
