Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pentingnya memiliki kemampuan pengenalan aksara bagi setiap anak agar dapat meneruskan ke jenjang lebih lanjut. Berdasarkan hasil observasi, bahwa keterbatasan intelegensi yang dimiliki anak tunagrahita ringan menghambat proses pengenalan aksara serta minimnya penggunaan media pembelajaran yang digunakan dalam pembelajaran pengenalan aksara di SLB Agrowisata Shaleha Panjalu. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk mendeskripsikan perkembangan kemampuan awal anak tunagrahita ringan dalam pengenalan aksara sebelum, saat, dan sesudah diberikannya intervensi (kondisi baseline A1, intervensi, dan kondisi baseline A2). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksperimen subjek tunggal (single subject research) dengan desain A-B-A. Subjek dalam penelitian ini yaitu siswa tunagrahita ringan berinisial DG yang bersekolah di SLB Agrowisata Shaleha Panjalu. Data diolah dan dianalisis dengan statistik deskriptif kemudian divisualisasikan dalam bentuk grafik. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dilakukan adalah tes dan observasi. Sumber data berupa hasil tes kemampuan pengenalan aksara tunagrahita ringan mencakup pengenalan huruf, suku kata, kata, dan kalimat sederhana. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan adanya peningkatan mean level dari setiap fase yang telah dilakukan. Mean level pada fase baseline A1 adalah 43,59%, meningkat pada fase intervensi menjadi 85,34%, dan mengalami peningkatan kembali pada fase baseline A2 yaitu 106,05%. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode fonik berbantuan media the letter(s) readiness puzlle mempunyai pengaruh positif terhadap peningkatan kemampuan pengenalan aksara sebagai tahap membaca permulaan pada siswa tunagrahita ringan. This research is motivated by the importance of having the ability to recognize letters for every child so that they can continue to the next level. Based on the results of observations, that the limited intelligence possessed by mild mentally retarded children hinders the process of recognizing letters and the lack of use of learning media used in learning character recognition at SLB Agrowisata Shaleha Panjalu. The purpose of this study is to describe the development of the initial ability of mild mentally retarded children in recognizing letters before, during, and after the intervention (baseline condition A1, intervention, and baseline condition A2). This study uses a single subject research method with an A-B-A design. The subjects in this study were mild mentally retarded students with the initials DG who attended SLB Agrowisata Shaleha Panjalu. The data was processed and analyzed with descriptive statistics and then visualized in the form of graphs. Data collection techniques used are tests and observations. The source of the data is in the form of test results for the ability to recognize mild mentally retarded characters including the introduction of letters, syllables, words, and simple sentences. The results showed an increase in the mean level of each phase that has been carried out. The mean level in the A1 baseline phase was 43.59%, increased in the intervention phase to 85.34%, and increased again in the A2 baseline phase, which was 106.05%. It can be concluded that the application of the letter(s) readiness puzzle media-assisted phonics method has a positive effect on increasing the ability to recognize letters as the initial reading stage in mild mentally retarded students.
