Abstract

ABSTRAK Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih kurangnya minat belajar siswa terhadap mata pelajaran IPA di mana hal ini juga dapat berpengaruh pada pelaksanaan proses pembelajaran. Salah satu upaya untuk meningkatkan minat belajar IPA adalah dengan menerapkan suatu model pembelajaran. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk: 1) Mengetahui dan menganalisis peningkatan minat belajar IPA siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan diterapkannya model Discovery Learning berbantuan media video lebih baik dari pada minat belajar IPA siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran secara konvensional; 2) Mengetahui pengaruh penerapan model Discovery Learning berbantuan media video terhadap minat belajar IPA siswa sekolah dasar. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan yaitu quasi experiment dengan desain non-equivalent control group design pada pembelajaran Tema 9 “Kayanya Negeriku”, Subtema 3 “Pelestarian Sumber Daya Alam di Indonesia”, pembelajaran ke-5 yang di dalamnya memuat mata pelajaran IPA. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV pada salah satu sekolah dasar negeri di kecamatan Purwakarta sebanyak 54 orang siswa. Pengumpulan data dilaksanakan dengan memberikan skala sikap (angket) minat belajar IPA yang diberikan sebelum dan sesudah pelaksanaan treatment dalam proses pembelajaran. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh kesimpulan: 1) Peningkatan minat belajar IPA siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan penerapan model Discovery Learning berbantuan media video lebih baik daripada minat belajar IPA siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional dengan skor dengan perolehan skor N-Gain 0,3154 kategori sedang pada kelompok siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran dengan penerapan model Discovery Learning berbantuan media video dan skor N-Gain sebesar 0,0323 kategori rendah pada kelompok siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran konvensional; 2) Terdapat pengaruh penerapan model Discovery Learning berbantuan media video terhadap minat belajar IPA siswa sekolah dasar, pengaruhnya adalah sebesar 14,7%. One of the efforts to increase interest in learning science is to apply a learning model. This study aims to: 1) Find out and analyze the increase in interest in science learning of students who receive learning by applying the Discovery Learning assisted by video media is better than the interest in learning science of students who receive conventional learning; 2) Knowing the effect of the application of the video-assisted Discovery Learning model on the interest in learning science for elementary school students. The type of research used is a quasi-experimental design with non-equivalent control group design in the learning of Tema 9 “Kayanya Negeriku”, Subtema 3 “Pelestarian Sumber Daya Alam di Indonesia”, the 5th lesson which includes science subjects. The subjects of this research is the fourth grade students in one of the public elementary schools in Purwakarta sub-district as many as 54 students. Data collection was carried out by providing an attitude scale (questionnaire) of interest in learning science which was given before and after the implementation of treatment in the learning process. Based on the result of the study, it was concluded: 1) The increase in interest in learning science for students who received learning by applying the Discovery Learning model assisted by video media was better than interest in learning science for students who received conventional learning. With N-Gain score of 0,3154 in the medium category for the students group who received learning by applying the Discovery Learning model assisted by video media and N-Gain score of 0,0323 in the low category for the students group who received conventional learning; 2) There is an effect of the application of the Discovery Learning model assisted by video media on the interest in learning science of elementary school students, the effect is 14,7% Keywords: Model Discovery Learning, Video Media, Learning interest in Science
