Abstract
Kata Kunci: Model VARK (Visual, Auditory, Read/Write and kinesthetics), Membaca Permulaan ----- Beginning reading is a language skill that must be mastered by students so that they do not have difficulty moving on to the next stage. In reality, there are students who have quite low initial reading skills. One of the influencing factors is that students have different learning styles, so if learning to read is not in accordance with their learning style, students will have difficulty. Therefore, this study aims to improve early reading skills by being given treatment in the form of a VARK (model Visual, Auditory, Read/Write and Kinesthetics) which includes four learning styles. The type of research used is a single subject research (Single Subject Research) with an AB-A' design. The subjects in this study were 3 students. Based on the results of the study during the intervention, it showed an increase. Subjects in the 1st phase of baseline-1 (A) scored 49 to 82 at the time of intervention (B) and 88 at baseline-2 (A'). Subjects in the 2nd phase of baseline-1 (A) scored from 45 to 77 during intervention (B) and 84 for baselinee-2. Subjects in the 3rd phase of baseline-1 (A) scored 40 to 75 at intervention (B) and 81 at baseline-2 (A'). So overall, the use of the VARK (model Visual, Auditory, Read/Write and Kinesthetics) provides an increase in students' initial reading skills. Keywords: VARK Model (Visual, Auditory, Read/Write and Kinesthetics), Beginning Reading.
