    Abstract

    Rendahnya kemampuan pemahaman konsep matematis siswa di sekolah dasar telah
    menjadi permasalahan yang sering dijumpai. Salah satu faktor yang menyebabkan
    rendahnya pemahaman konsep siswa yaitu cara penyajian materi. Masih banyak guru yang
    mengajar menggunakan pendekatan konvensional dengan metode ceramah tanpa
    melibatkan siswa secara aktif. Hal ini mengakibatkan siswa menjadi pasif dan kurang
    terlibat dalam proses pembelajaran sehingga tingkat pemahaman konsep siswa juga rendah.
    Untuk mengatasi permasalahan yang terjadi, peneliti menerapkan pendekatan Concrete
    Pictorial Abstract (CPA) sebagai solusi alternatif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini yaitu untuk
    melihat apakah pencapaian skor rata-rata kelas yang menggunakan pendekatan CPA lebih
    baik dibanding dengan kelas yang tidak menggunakan pendekatan CPA, kemudian untuk
    menganalisis adanya peningkatan skor rata-rata kelas yang menggunakan pendekatan CPA.
    Selain itu juga untuk melihat pengaruh pendekatan CPA terhadap kemampuan pemahaman
    konsep matematis siswa. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu kuasi
    eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Sampel penelitian ini yaitu
    kelas V di salah satu SD Negeri di Kabupaten Purwakarta dengan jumpah 60 siswa.
    Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini yaitu berupa tes dan non tes. Berdasarkan
    analisis data secara deskriptif maupun inferensial, hasil penelitian ini yaitu adanya
    peningkatan skor pemahaman konsep yang menggunakan pendekatan CPA terlihat dari
    meningkatnya skor rata-rata siswa kriteria tinggi yaitu dari 6,67% menjadi 20%. Selain itu
    hasil analisis regresi menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh pendekatan CPA terhadap
    pemahaman konsep matematis siswa sebesar 70,9%.

    The lack of mathematical concept understanding skills of students in elementary school has
    become the most common problems. One of the factors that causes low understanding of
    student concepts is how teacher teaches. There are still many teachers who teach using
    conventional approaches with lecture methods without actively engaging students. This
    results in students being passive and less involved in learning process so that the level of
    understanding of student concepts is also low. To solve the problem, researchers applied
    Concrete Pictorial Abstract (CPA) approach as an alternative solution. The purpose of this
    study was to see if the achievement of the average score of the class using the CPA
    approach was better than the class that did not use the CPA approach, then to analyze the
    increase in the average score of the class that uses the CPA approach. In addition, to see
    the influence of CPA approach to the ability to understand mathematical concepts of
    students. The method used in this study is quasi experimental design with nonequivalent
    control group design. The sample of this study is grade V at one of the state elementary
    schools in Purwakarta with 60 students. The instruments used in this study are test and
    non-test. Based on descriptive and inferential data analysis, the results of this study are an
    increase in concept comprehension scores using the CPA approach seen from the increase
    in the average score of high-criteria students from 6.67% to 20%. In addition, regression
    analysis shows that the influence of CPA approach to understanding student concepts by
    70,9%.
