Abstract

This research aims to identify the differences between students' 21st century skills by giving a treatment and non treatment using reading infusion in learning process. This reserach used problem based learning as a teaching model that refers to Barret. The data in this research was obtained through observation technique during the teaching and learning process conducted and distribution of questionnaire at the end of learning. The observation activity was conducted by addressing a rubric of 21st century skills that was adapted from Buck Institute of Education after modifying several aspects. The research was conducted to one of senior high school in Indramayu city. The method used in this research was quantitative using posttest only control group design. The samples were 66 of XI Science-2 students as a control group and XI science-1 as an experimental group. The data of students' critical thinking skills was analyzed by Mann Whitney Test. The analysis for collaboration, communication and creative & innovative skills were obtained by totaling each indicator obtained for each 21st century skills. The result of analyze showed that there is significant difference between students' 21st century skills by giving a treatment and non-treatment using reading infusion on static fluid topic.
