Abstract

Learning media is an intermediary tool that helps teachers convey information to students who are able to increase learning interest and achieve learning goals. This research aims to find out the difference in students' learning interests in geography learning in experiment classes taught using Universe Sandbox 2 media with students in control classes taught using Power Point media. This research was carried out because there has not previously been a specific learning medium for geography subjects. This study uses the research method of Kuasi Experiment with posstest-only design conducted at SMA Negeri 7 bandung with the population of the entire class X IPS and the research sample is X IPS 3 with the number of 34 students as an experimental class and X IPS 1 with the number of 35 students as a control class. Learning interests are a researched variable, this learning interest is derived from the accumulation of four indicators of learning interests namely attraction, likes, attention, and engagement. Learning interest data is obtained using a questionnaire of learning interests given to students in both experimental and control classes. Analysis of data used in the form of normality tests, homogeneity tests and hypothesis tests. The results of the study conducted in the experiment class showed an average of 60 study interests with moderate learning interest categories. Meanwhile, control class showed an average of 61 study interests with moderate learning interest categories. Based on the findings of research that has been analyzed with hypothetical tests using the Mann Whitney method, obtained asymp value. Sig 0.773 is greater than 0.05. Thus, the conclusion of the results shows that there is no difference in interest in learning geography between students who are taught using Universe Sandbox 2 media and students who are taught without using Power Point media.
