Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika siswa SMA yang disebabkan oleh tingginya tingkat kecemasan matematika yang dimiliki siswa. Oleh karena itu, peneliti ingin menganalisis apakah penelitian yang dilakukan pada siswa SMA akan sama hasilnya atau ada perbedaan apabila dilakukan penelitian terhadap siswa SD. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui apakah terdapat perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah antara siswa kelas IV SD yang memiliki kecemasan rendah, sedang, dan tinggi. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode kuantitatif jenis komparatif dengan teknik purposive sampling. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV SD gugus 1 Kecamatan Cileunyi dengan sampel sebanyak 10 siswa kelas IV SDI Al-Amanah. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika, angket kecemasan matematika, dan wawancara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) tingkat kecemasan matematis siswa berada pada kategori beragam yaitu rendah, sedang, dan tinggi; 2) faktor yang menyebabkan munculya kecemasan pada diri siswa berasal dari dirinya sendiri, salah satunya adalah kurangnya rasa percaya diri; 3) hasil uji ANOVA satu jalur menunjukkan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematika antara siswa yang memiliki kecemasan rendah, sedang, dan tinggi; 4) level kecemasan yang memberikan pengaruh lebih tinggi terhadap pencapaian kemampuan pemecahan masalah dibanding level kecemasan yang lain adalah siswa dengan kecemasan matematis sedang. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini membuktikan bahwa terdapat perbedaan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa SD antara yang memiliki kecemasan rendah, sedang, dan tinggi. ----- The background behind this research is low mathematical problem solving ability of student’s high school caused by high levels of mathematical anxiety. Therefore, reseachers want to analyze whether the research was conducted on high school students has the same result or there is a different of research on elementary school students. The purpose of this research is to find out the differences in problem solving abilities between 4th grade elementary school students who have low, medium, and high anxiety. The metode used in this research is quantitative method of comparative type with purposive sampling technique. The population in this research were students of 4th grade Elementary School cluster 1 Cileunyi District with a sample of this research are 10 students of IV class Al-Amanah Islamic Elementary School. The instrument in this research include test question about mathematical problem solving skills, questionnaire of mathematics anxiety, and interviews. The result show that: 1) the level of student’s math anxiety are in various categories, low, medium, and high; 2) the factor that cause math anxiety in students come from themselves, one of wich is self-confidence; 3) the result of one way ANOVA test show that there are differences in math problem solving abilities between student who have low, medium, and hight math anxiety; 4) the level of math anxiety that has a higher effect on the achievement of problem solving abilities compared to other math anxiety levels is student with medium math anxiety. Based on the result of this research, it proves that there are differences in the mathematical problem solving abilities of elementary school students between those who have low, medium, and high math anxiety.
