Abstract
----- This study was conducted to determine the availability of students hands on activity in science learning related to basic science process skills and provide solutions to science learning activities if student hands on activities are not available. This research is based on the importance of books as one of the learning resources that can provide guidelines for learning activities for students to practice basic science process skills by doing hands on activity. The method used is qualitative research with the type of content / document analysis. The data collection technique used is documentation. Collection and study of references about hands on activity and basic science process skills are then linked to science learning activities in the fifth grade student book theme 9 objects around us. The researcher analyzes the data related to data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. The results showed that: 1) hands on activity related to basic science process skills are available in every sub-theme, but not always available in every learning activity and only related to 3-4 basic science process skills namely observation, classification, inference and communication; 2) the solution to the unavailability of students hands on activity in 10 learning activities is the provision of follow-up in the form of manipulative activities or science learning activities based on students hands on activity related to basic science process skills.
