Abstract
Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan penguatan pendidikan karakter berbasis kelas dalam mata pelajaran PPKn terlalu banyak mencatat dan pembelajaran yang dilaksanakan terkesan teoritis sehingga peserta didik kurang menerapkan nilai-nilai penguatan pendidikan karakter secara kontekstual, selain itu belum adanya praktik pembelajaran yang mampu menggali kemampuan berpikir kritis dalam implementasi pendidikan karakter. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan penanaman nilai-nilai karakter di kelas agar peserta didik mengembangkan potensi berpikir kritis melalui model pembelajaran debat. Pendekatan penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode penelitian tindakan kelas. Teknik pengumpulan data dalam penelitian ini mengunakan wawancara baik dari guru dan peserta didik, analisis dokumentasi, dan observasi. Adapun teknik analisis data dalam penelitian ini yaitu dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Hasil penelitian membuktikan bahwa penguatan pendidikan karakter dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik kelas XI IPS 3 SMAN 15 Bandung mengalami peningkatan secara signifikan setelah proses pembelajaran melalui model pembelajaran debat pada setiap siklusnya secara signifikan dari indikator kurang menjadi cukup kemudian baik. Sehingga model pembelajaran debat ini efektif digunakan dalam penerapan pendidikan karakter untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis peserta didik. Kata Kunci: Karakter, Debat, Berpikir Kritis ABSTRACK RIZKIYANI FAUZIYAH (1608036), STRENGTHENING CHARACTER EDUCATION THROUGH DEBATE LEARNING MODELS TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS (CLASSROOM ACTION RESEARCH IN CLASS XI IPS 3 SMAN 15 BANDUNG) This research is motivated by the problem of strengthening classroom-based character education in civic education subjects too much taking notes and the learning that is carried out seems theoretical so that students do not apply the values of strengthening character education, in addition there are no learning practices that are able to explore critical thinking skills in implementation character building. This study aims to describe the inculcation of character values in the classroom so that students develop the potential for contextual critical thinking through debate learning models. This research approach is a qualitative approach to the classroom action research method. Data collection techniques in this study used interviews from both teachers and students, documentation analysis, and observation. The data analysis techniques in this study are by data reduction, data presentation, and get any conclusions. The results of the study prove that the strengthening of character education in improving the critical thinking skills of students of class XI IPS 3 of SMAN 15 Bandung has increased significantly after the learning process through the debate learning model in each cycle significantly from less to be sufficient, then well. Debate learning models effectively used in the application for character education to improve students’ critical thinking skills. Keywords: Character, Debate, Critical Thinking
