Abstract

Penelitian ini di latar belakangi oleh pentingnya keterampilan sosial dimiliki oleh siswa sekolah menengah atas. Keterampilan sosial merupakan salah satu aspek penting dalam tugas perkembangan pada masa remaja. Keterampilan sosial membantu siswa dalam berinteraksi dengan lingkungannya. Penggunaan media sosial dewasa ini telah menjadi sebuah fenomena nyata pada berbagai kalangan termasuk kalangan remaja. Secara umum, tujuan penelitian ini ialah diperolehnya profil keterampilan sosial siswa pengguna media sosial aktif. Penelitian dilakukan di SMA Negeri 15 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2018-2019 kota Bandung. Populasi dari penelitian ini yaitu siswa kelas XI yang terindikasi merupakan pengguna media sosial aktif. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dan metode studi deskriptif. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: (1) profil keterampilan sosial siswa kelas IX secara umum berada pada kualifikasi sedang, (2) profil keterampilan sosial siswa kelas XI pengguna media sosial aktif berada pada kualifikasi sedang; (3) perbedaan keterampilan sosial berdasarkan jenis kelamin menunjukan bahwa siswa perempuan memiliki keterampilan sosial lebih tinggi dibandingkan siswa laki-laki. (4) perbedaan keterampilan sosial siswa pengguna media sosial aktif dan pengguna media sosial pasif. Rekomendasi untuk peneliti selanjutnya yaitu untuk melakukan penelitian terkait intervensi dalam mengingkatkan keterampilan sosial siswa;---The importance of possessing social skills among senior high school students has encouraged the researcher to accomplish this research. Social skills are one of the significant factors of developmental tasks of adolescence. Social skills help students interact with their environment. Nowadays, the use of social media has become tangible phenomenon in various circles especially adolescence. In general, the aim of this study is to obtain students’ social skills profile of social media active users. The study was conducted at SMAN 15 Bandung year 2018-2019. The population of the study were XI grade students who were indicated as social media active users. The study employed qualitative approach and descriptive method. The results showed: (1) social skills profile of XI grade students were generally in moderate qualifications, (2) social skills profile of XI grade students whom considered as social media active users were in moderate qualifications; (3) distinction in social skills based on gender indicated that female students had higher social skills than male students. (4) distinction in social skills based on social media active users and social media passive users indicated that social media passive users had higher social skills than social media active users. Further researchers are suggested to conduct a research related to the interventions which can be used to enhance students’ social skills.
