Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh menumpuknya sampah daun nanas yang belum diolah lebih lanjut dengan maksimal. Pengolahan sampah daun nanas sejauh ini baru diolah manjadi serat dan dimanfaatkan untuk pakan ternak ruminansia. Sedangkan, dalam setiap panen buah nanas, daun nanas yang dihasilkan mencapai 70-80 helai. Kabupaten Subang merupakan salah satu wilayah cocok tanam yang dapat menghasilkan nanas sampai 2.279.799 ton. Dengan jumlah yang sangat melimpah ini, pengolahan lebih lanjut terhadap sampah daun nanas akan sangat bermanfaat. Dengan demikian, pengolahan sampah daun nanas ini akan menghasilkan sebuah benda/karya yang nantinya akan bernilai jual dan juga memiliki nilai estetika yang tinggi. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMAN 1 Subang, dengan objek siswa anggota Ekstrakurikuler Smansa Creative Art (SCA) tahun 2018/2019. Temuan penelitian ini berupa tiga jenis bahan yang dapat diolah dari sampah daun nanas yaitu daun kering, bubur daun, dan serat daun nanas. Proses pembuatan daun kering merupakan teknik yang paling mudah, sedangkan proses pembuatan serat daun nanas merupakan teknik yang paling sulit yang membutuhkan ketelitian khusus. Hasil penelitian ini menemukan bahwa sampah daun nanas dapat diolah menjadi karya seni rupa murni dan seni rupa terapan. Bahkan, pengolahan sampah daun nanas sampai ke tahap menghasilkan kertas dan papan. Kata kunci: pengolahan sampah, daun nanas, media berkarya, seni rupa. ABSTRACT This research is motivated by the accumulation of pineapple leaf waste that has not been processed to the maximum. The processing of pineapple leaf waste has so far only been processed into fiber and used for ruminant feed. Meanwhile, in each harvest of pineapple, pineapple leaves produced reach 70-80 strands. Subang Regency is one of the cultivation areas that can produce pineapple up to 2.279.799 tons. With this very abundant amount, further processing of pineapple leaf waste will be very beneficial. Thus, the processing of pineapple leaf waste will produce an object/work that will be worth selling and also has a high aesthetic value. This research was conducted ai SMAN 1 Subang, with student object as members of the Smansa Creative Art (SCA) Extracurricular in 2018/2019. The findings of this study are in the form of three types of material that can be processed from pineapple leaf waste, namely dried leaves, leaf porridge, and pineapple leaf fibers. The process of making dried leaves is the easiest technique, while the process of making pineapple fiber is the most difficult technique that requires special accuracy. The result of this study found that pineapple leaf waste can be processed into works of pure art and applied fine arts. In fact, processing pineapple leaves to the stage of producing paper and board.
