Abstract
Self-awareness merupakan keterampilan untuk memahami emosi, perasaan, dan dorongan hati yang mempengaruhi perilakunya dalam berinteraksi dengan orang lain, maupun lingkungannya, serta mampu untuk mengevaluasi dirinya sendiri sehingga mampu mengembangkan diri secara positif dan bertanggungjawab atas segala keputusan. Self-awareness dipengaruhi oleh dua faktor yakni faktor lingkungan keluarga dan lingkungan non keluarga. Self-awareness merupakan salah satu cara untuk mengendalikan perilaku yang timbul akibat terbawa emosi. Penelitian ini bertujuan mendeskripsikan perbedaan self-awareness remaja awal di boarding school dengan sekolah reguler. Penelitan dilakukan dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dan metode komparasi dengan partisipan sebanyak 563 peserta didik (boarding school 263 peserta didik, dan sekolah reguler 300 peserta didik). Instrumen yang digunakan yaitu instrumen Self-Awareness yang terdiri dari tiga aspek utama yaitu emotional awareness, accurate self-assessment, dan self-confidence. Analisis data menggunakan analisis Kruskall Wallis untuk mengungkap perbedaan self-awareness peserta didik yang bersekolah di boarding school dan peserta didik yang bersekolah reguler. Hasil penelitian menunjukan kecenderungan self-awareness peserta didik di boarding school dan sekolah reguler berada pada kategori tinggi (mean= 12,5). Terdapat perbedaan kecenderungan self-awareness yang signifikan antara boarding school dengan sekolah reguler (sig. 0.004). Kata Kunci: Self-awareness, emotional awareness, accurate self-assessment, dan self-confidence Self-awareness is the skills to understand emotions, feelings, and intuitions that affect his behavior in interacting with others, as well as his environment, and being able to evaluate himself so as to be able to develop themselves positively and be responsible for all decisions. Self-awareness is influenced by two factors namely family environment and non-family environment. Self-awareness is one way to control behavior that arises as a result of being carried away by emotions. This study aimed to describes the differences of early adolescent self-awareness beetwen in boarding schools and regular schools. This study used a quantitative approach with comparative method with 563 participants (263 students at boarding school, and 300 students in regular school). The instrument used was the Self-Awareness instrument which has three main aspects, namely emotional awareness, accurate self-assessment, and self-confidence. The data analysis used Kruskall Wallis analysis to reveal the differences in self-awareness of students who attend boarding school and students who attend regular school. The results showed the tendency of self-awareness of students in boarding schools and regular schools were in the high category (mean = 12.5). There is a significant difference in self-awareness between boarding schools and regular schools (sig. 0.004).
