Abstract

Perkembangan fashion masa kini menjadikan masyarakat semakin peduli dengan penampilan, namun tidak semua orang memiliki daya untuk mewujudkan diri menjadi seorang yang modis. Penelitian ini mengangkat masalah mengenai kebermanfaatan aspek-aspek pembelajaran yang dipelajari di mata kuliah tersebut dengan kesiapan mahasiswa dalam menjalani profesi sebagai seorang fashion stylist.Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh data dan gambaran manfaat hasil belajar mata kuliah Fashion Style and Trend Research ditinjau dari konsep dasar tren, analisis fenomena tren mode dan trend forecast, analisis tren dari fashion designer atau brand, kemampuan design development, pengambilan inspirasi dari hasil research dan analisis serta pengaplikasiannya dalam konsep fashion, serta pengetahuan profesi, sejarah, deskripsi pekerjaan, keahlian, standar kualitas dan bidang pekerjaan dari seorang fashion stylist. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei deskriptif dengan jumlah responden 58 orang mahasiswa Program Studi D-3 Seni Rupa dan Desain, Mayor Fashion Design di Universitas Kristen Maranatha yang telah menempuh mata kuliah Fashion Style and Trend Research di semester lima dari tiga angkatan yang berbeda: 2014,2015, dan 2016. Temuan pada penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa responden memahami dan menguasai konsep dasar tren; mampu menganalisis, mendesain, mengambil inspirasi dari riset dan pengaplikasiannya dalam konsep; dan sudah memenuhi aspek kesiapan bekerja yaitu responsibility, flexibility, dan skills. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa mata kuliah Fashion Style and Trend Research memiliki tingkat kebermanfaatan yang cukup tinggi dinilai dari aspek-aspek yang dipelajari selama perkuliahan serta aspek kesiapan bekerja. The development of fashion now makes people more concerned with appearance, but not everyone has the power to realize themselves as a fashionable person. This study raises the issue of the benefits of learning aspects learned in the course with the readiness of students in undergoing the profession as a fashion stylist. The purpose of this study is to obtain data and an overview of the benefits of learning outcomes in Fashion Style and Trend Research courses in terms of the concept basic trends, analysis of fashion trends and trend forecast phenomena, trend analysis of fashion designers or brands, design development skills, taking inspiration from the results of research and analysis and their application in fashion concepts, as well as professional knowledge, history, job descriptions, expertise, quality standards and line of work from a fashion stylist. This research uses descriptive survey method with 58 respondents consisting of D-3 Study Program of Fine Arts and Design, Major Fashion Design at Maranatha Christian University who have taken Fashion Style and Trend Research courses in the fifth semester from three different batches: 2014, 2015, and 2016. The findings in this study indicate that respondents understand and master the basic concepts of trends; able to analyze, design, take inspiration from research and its application in concepts; and have fulfilled aspects of work readiness, namely responsibility, flexibility, and skills. The results of this study indicate that the Fashion Style and Trend Research courses have a fairly high level of usefulness assessed from the aspects studied during lectures as well as aspects of work readiness.
