Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi dari beberapa masalah yang terjadi di kelas VII SMP Negeri 40 Bandung, diantaranya yaitu masih adanya penggunaan model pembelajaran konvensional yang berakibat pada kurangnya kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dalam pembelajaran IPS. Penelitian ini menghasilkan beberapa temuan yaitu kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa masih rendah, masih terdapat siswa yang belum mampu untuk memberikan penjelasan lebih lanjut terkait materi pembelajaran dengan menggunakan pendapat sendiri, selain itu masih ditemukan siswa yang menjawab pertanyaan dengan bahasa buku. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan menganalisis perbedaan secara signifikan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa yang menggunakan model pembelajaran think pair and share berbantuan media gambar dengan model konvensional. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan menggunakan Nonequivalent (pre-test dan post-test) Control-Group Design. Teknik pengumpulan data yang dipakai pada penelitian ini adalah dengan menggunakan tes. Teknik analisis data dilakukan dengan uji-t independen sampel test. Adapun hasil dari penelitian ini bahwa terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa dalam pembelajaran IPS antara kelas eksperimen yang menggunakan model pembelajaran think pair and share berbantuan media gambar dengan kelas kontrol yang menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional. Hal tersebut diketahui berdasarkan skor rata-rata pada saat pre-test dan post-test, skor rata-rata kelas eksperimen saat pre-test 8,91 sedangkan skor rata-rata pada saat post-test 10,66. Adapun hasil pre-test kelas kontrol 7,94 dan post-test 8,78. Dari hasil rata-rata keduanya mengalami peningkatan namun peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada kelas yang menggunakan model pembelajaran think pair and share berbantuan media gambar lebih besar dibandingkan dengan kelas yang menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional. ..... This study produced several findings that critical thinking ability, students still low there are still students who do not able to elaborating related material, learning by using his own opinions in addition there were students who answers questions with the book. This study aims to determine and analyze the significant differences in critical thinking abilities of students who use think pair and share learning models assisted with image media with conventional model. The methods used in this research is quasi his experiments with a quantitative approach using nonequivalent ( pre-test and post-test ) control-group design. Data collection techniques used in this study are using tests. Data analysis techniques were performed by independent t-test sample test. The results of this study that there are significant differences in students' critical thinking skills in social studies learning between the experimental classes using think pair and share learning model assisted with picture media with control classes using conventional learning models. It is known based on the average scores at the pre-test and post-test, the average score of the experimental class at pre-test is 8.91 while the average score at post-test is 10.66. The results of the control class pre-test were 7.94 and post-test 8.78. From the average results, both of them experienced an increase, but the improvement of students' critical thinking skills in the class using think pair and share learning model with the help of picture media was greater than the one using conventional learning models.
