Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh peran yang diterapkan orang tua dalam upaya menghadapi stigmatisasi sosial terhadap anak berkebutuhan khusus di lingkungan masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bagaimana peran orang tua dalam mengahadapi stigmatisasi sosial terhadap anak berkebutuhan khusus. Peneliti menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan studi kasus dan pengumpulan data melalui wawancara dan observasi. Informan penelitian yaitu orang tua yang memiliki anak berkebutuhan khusus, wali anak dan masyarakat dan tempat penelitian di SLB AB Bina Asih Kabupaten Cianjur. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian stigmatisasi sosial terhadap anak berkebutuhan khusus yaitu berupa bullying dan tatapan sinis oleh teman-temannya yang tidak memiliki kebutuhan khusus permanen. bullying dan tatapan tersebut sangat menganggu anak-anak berkebutuhan khusus tersebut sehingga membuat tidak nyaman kedua orang tuanya. Sehingga orang tua tersebut memberikan edukasi tentang anak berkebutuhan khusus kepada teman-teman anaknya dan juga orangtua jauh lebih protektif terhadap anak berkebutuhan khusus tersebut. Sikap orangtua kepada anaknya yang berkebutuhan khusus cenderung reaktif yang terbagi kedalam dua macam yaitu reaksi positif dimana orangtua selalu berpikir positif kepada orang lain yang melakukan stigmatisasi sosial kepada anaknya yang berkebutuhan khusus adapun reaksi negatif dimana orangtua memberikan pelajaran langusng kepada anak-anak normal yang melakukan stigmatisasi sosial kepada anaknya yaitu seperti memarahi anak-anak normal tersebut. Upaya orangtua menumbuhkan kepercayaan diri kepada anaknya yang berkebutuhan khusus dengan cara memberikan dukungan penuh kepada anaknya serta memberikan kepercayaan serta motivasi kepada anaknya yang berkebutuhan khusus seperti bersepeda pergi ke sekolah agama, mengembangkan hobinya yang disukai serta les karate hingga mendapatkan sabuk hijau.;--This research is motivated by the role applied by parents in efforts to deal with social stigmatization of children with special needs in the community. This study aims to determine how the role of parents in addressing social stigmatization of children with special needs. Researchers used qualitative methods with case studies and data collection through interviews and observations. This informants namely parents who have children with special needs and the community and the place of this research in SLB AB Bina Asih, Cianjur Regency. Based on the results of this study obtained social stigmatization received by children with special needs in the form of bulying and cynical stares by his friends who do not have permanent special needs. bullying and gazing is very disturbing children with special needs, making it uncomfortable for both parents. So that parents reprimand and provide education about children with special needs to their children's friends and also parents are far more protective of children with special needs. the attitude of parents to their children with special needs tends to be reactive. Reactive is divided into two kinds, namely positive reactions where parents always think positively to others who do social stigmatization to their children with special needs, while negative reactions where parents provide direct lessons to normal children who do social stigmatization of their children, such as scolding children the normal child. Parents' efforts to foster confidence in their children with special needs by providing full support to their children and provide trust and motivation to children with special needs such as cycling to go to religious schools, develop their favorite hobbies and karate lessons to get a green belt.
