Abstract
Meningkatnya usia harapan hidup penduduk dapat menyebabkan peningkatan jumlah lansia. Demensia merupakan salah satu permasalahan pada lansia yang ditandai dengan penurunan fungsi kognitif sehingga tidak mampu melakukan aktivitas sehari – hari yang berpengaruh pada menurunnya status fungsional lansia. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi gambaran status fungsional pada lanjut usia dengan demensia. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode deskriptif kuantitatif, dengan teknik purposive sampling sebanyak 58 lansia yang mengalami demensia ringan – sedang (MMSE 10-26) di PSTW Senjarawi dan Budi Pertiwi Bandung. Instrumen penelitian menggunakan Barthel Index dan IADL (Instrument Activity Daily Living). Teknik analisa data menggunakan analisis univariat dan data disajikan dalam bentuk tabel distribusi frekuensi. Responden dalam penelitian ini berdasarkan karakteristik usia, jenis kelamin, pendidikan dan riwayat penyakit. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan status fungsional dasar (barthel index) lansia dengan demensia sebanyak 57 lansia (98,3 %) memiliki ketergantungan sebagian dan 1 lansia (1,7%) memiliki ketergantungan total. Hasil status fungsional instrumental (IADL) didapatkan lansia sebanyak 35 lansia (60,3%) memiliki ketergantungan sebagian dan 23 lansia (39,7%) memiliki ketergantungan total. Status fungsional pada lansia dengan demensia di PSTW Senjarawi dan Budi Pertiwi memiliki tingkat status fungsional dengan ketergantungan sebagian. Adapun saran dari penelitian ini sebaiknya pihak panti tetap mengoptimalkan lansia untuk melakukan aktivitas sehari-hari baik dasar maupun instrumental dengan mandiri.;-- Increased life expectancy of the population can lead to an increase in the number of elderly. Dementia is one of the problems in the elderly that are characterized by a decrease in cognitive function leading to the inability to perform daily activities that affects to the decline in functional status of the elderly. The purpose of this study was to identify the description of functional status of elderly with dementia. This research used quantitative descriptive method with purposive sampling technique to obtain the sample of 58 elderly who have mild-moderate dementia (MMSE 10-26) in PSTW Senjarawi and Budi Pertiwi Bandung. The research instruments used were Barthel Index and IADL (Instrument Activity Daily Living). Data analysis technique used was univariate analysis and the data were presented in the form of frequency distribution table. Respondents in this study were classified based on the characteristics of age, gender, education, and history of disease. The results showed the elderly functional status (barthel index) of elderly with dementia, where 57 elderly (98.3%) had partial dependence and one elderly (1.7%) had total dependence. From the results of instrumental functional status (IADL), it was obtained that 35 elderly (60.3%) had partial dependency and 23 elderly (39,7%) had total dependency. The elderly with dementia in PSTW Senjarawi and Budi Pertiwi had functional status level of partial dependency. It is suggested for social homes to optimize the elderly to perform daily activities, both basic and instrumental, independently.
