Abstract

Telah dilakukan preparasi dan kajian profil pelepasan kalium klorida ke dalam media aqua-DM melalui membran hidrogel PVA-GA-POM. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menentukan sifat fisiko-kimia (struktur, morfologi, kondisi pencucian, dan pelepasan material) membran hidrogel PVA-GA-POM. Pada penelitian ini dilakukan; (1) sintesis dan karakterisasi membran hidrogel; (2) pencucian membran hidrogel; dan (3) uji pelepasan KCl melalui membran hidrogel. Membran hidrogel dipreparasi dengan metode solution mixing pada komposisi perbandingan volume sediaan PVA: crosslinker GA = 1:1 dan PVA, GA, dan POM dalam perbandingan volume 1:1:1, yang selanjutnya dicetak dan dikeringkan. Membran hidrogel dicuci dalam variasi volume air 500, 1000, dan 1500 mL. Struktur membran hidrogel ditentukan dengan FTIR, dan morfologinya ditentukan dengan SEM. Uji pelepasan KCl dilakukan dengan menempatkan 2 mL larutan KCl, yang terpisahkan oleh membran hidrogel dalam alat uji desorpsi.. Analisis SEM menunjukkan bahwa semakin besar volume pencuci, membran yang diperoleh semakin bersih. Hasil FTIR menunjukkan terjadinya reaksi ikat-silang antara PVA dan GA membentuk hidrogel PVA-GA, sementara penambahan POM tidak mengubah pola spektrum FTIR. Kemampuan membran hidrogel melepaskan KCl dari larutannya ke dalam media aqua-DM menjadi lebih kecil ketika volume pencucian bertambah. Kondisi kesetimbangan tercapai pada 177 menit dan 63,30% KCl dilepaskan ketika PVA-GA-POM digunakan sebagai pemisah, sedangkan dibutuhkan 238,5 menit untuk melepaskan 77,32% KCl ketika PVA-GA digunakan sebagai pemisah. ..... This study was intended to determine physico-chemical properties (covering structure, morphology, rinsing condition, and release material) of PVA-GA-POM membrane at ordinary condition. There are three main concerns in this study, ie (1) synthesis and characterization of hydrogel membranes; (2) rinsing of hydrogel membranes; and (3) KCl release profile through hydrogel membranes into aqua-DM. The hydrogel membrane was prepared using solution mixing method, where the volume ratio of PVA:crosslinker GA = 1:1 and PVA: GA: POM = 1: 1: 1. The formed hydrogel membranes were rinsed in a variety volumes of aqua-DM; 500, 1000 and 1500 mL. Structural hydrogel properties was determined using FTIR spectroscopy, and its morphology was determined using SEM. The KCl release test was carried out by placing 2 mL of KCl solution, which was separated by the hydrogel membrane from its bulk phase in a desorption test instrument. The thickness of applied membrane was ± 0.1000 mm. SEM analysis showed that the larger the rinsing volume the cleaner the membrane obtained. The results of FTIR indicate the occurrence of crosslinking reactions between PVA and GA forming PVA-GA hydrogels, while the addition of POM did not change the pattern of its FTIR spectra. The ability of hydrogel membrane releasing KCl from its solution into aqua-DM media through PVA-GA-POM membrane became smaller when the rinsing volume was augmented. Equilibrium condition was attained in 177 minutes and 63.30% of KCl released when PVA-GA-POM was used as separator, but it was needed 238.5 minutes to release 77.32% of KCl when PVA-GA applied as separator.
