Abstract

Kesulitan dapat menjadi jembatan menuju kesuksesan jika seseorang mampu mengkonversi setiap kesulitan menjadi sebuah tantangan. Kemampuan seseorang dalam menghadapi kesulitan diistilahkan sebagai Kecerdasan adversitas. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengungkap kecenderungan tingkat kecerdasan adversitas mahasiswa Jenjang Sarjana UPI berdasarkan faktor demografi (usia, jenis kelamin, asal SMA, IPK, Status pembayaran, daerah asal). Pendekatan deskriptif kuantitatif dengan jenis survey cross sectional digunakan dalam penelitian. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah kuesioner kecerdasan adversitas yang terdiri dari 44 item pertanyaan dengan bentuk skala Semantic differential. Instrumen dirancang peneliti merujuk pada konstruk dimensi kecerdasan adversitas (Control, Ownership, Reach, Endurance) yang dikembangkan oleh Paul Stoltz. Penelitian menggunakan Tipe sampling probabilitas dengan Teknik multistage cluster sampling, dengan teknik tersebut didapatkan sebanyak 470 Partisipan. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan sebagian besar partisipan berada pada kategori Campers, mengindikasikan kecenderungan partisipan mampu menghadapi tantangan dan kesulitan dalam perkuliahan namun ketika level masalah semakin rumit mereka memilih berhenti di tempat aman dan tidak sedikit yang menyerah. Temuan lain menunjukkan Kecerdasan adversitas mahasiswa jenjang sarjana UPI berbeda signifikan berdasarkan demografi Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif dan Asal SMA. Mahasiswa dengan IPK lebih tinggi cenderung memiliki kecerdasan adversitas yang juga tinggi dan sebaliknya. Secara statistik perbedaan tersebut signifikan, dengan nilai signifikansi 0,00 (<0,05). Mahasiswa jenjang sarjana UPI yang berasal dari SMA Swasta cenderung memiliki rata-rata kecerdasan adversitas lebih tinggi daripada mahasiswa yang berasal dari SMA Negeri, secara statistik perbedaan tersebut signifikan dengan nilai sig 0,048 (<0,05). Hasil penelitian dapat digunakan sebagai rekomendasi bagi UPT LBK (Unit Pelaksana Teknis Layanan Bimbingan dan Konseling) Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia untuk mengembangkan pogram peningkatan kecerdasan adversitas bagi mahasiswa, serta sebagai bahan informasi bagi dosen wali/pembimbing dalam merancang metode bimbingan sesuai dengan kecenderungan tingkat kecerdasan adversitas mahasiswa. ..... Difficulties can be a bridge to success if someone is able to convert every difficulty into a challenge. A person's ability to face difficulties is termed adversity intelligence. This study aims to reveal the trend of adversity intelligence of UPI undergraduate students based on demographic factors (Age, Gender, Previous High School, Grade Point Average, Payment Status, Hometown). Quantitative descriptive approach with cross sectional survey type was used in this research. The instrument used is an adversity intelligence questionnaire consisting of 44 questions with the form of a Semantic differential scale. The instrument designed by the researcher refers to the construct of the dimensions of adversity intelligence (Control, Ownership, Reach, Endurance) which developed by Paul Stoltz. This research used probability sampling type with multistage cluster sampling technique, with the technique obtained as many as 470 participants. The results of the data analysis showed that most of the participants were in the Campers category, indicating the trend of participants to be able to face challenges and difficulties in the lecture, but when the level of problems became more complicated they chose to stop in a safe place and a few who gave up. Other findings show that the adversity intelligence of UPI undergraduate students is significantly different based on the Grade point average and the previous high school. Students with higher Grade point average tend to have high adversity intelligence and vice versa. Statistically the difference is significant, with a significance value of 0.00 (<0.05). UPI undergraduate students from private high schools tend to have higher adversity intelligence than students from public high schools, statistically the difference is significant with a sig value of 0.048 (<0.05). The results of the study can be used as recommendations for the UPT LBK of the Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia to develop a program to improve adversity intelligence for students, as well as information material for academic adviser in designing guidance methods that are appropriate to the adversity intelligence level of student.
