Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh keberadaan perpustakaan sekolah yang masih belum dikelola dengan semestinya, jumlah profesi pustakawan khususnya pustakawan sekolah yang masih kurang ideal, serta beberapa universitas yang membuka program studi ilmu perpustakaan dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui dan mendeskripsikan bagaimana persepsi mahasiswa tentang profesi pustakawan sekolah. Penelitian ini dilakukan kepada mahasiswa ilmu perpustakaan dari tiga program studi yaitu Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia, Universitas Negeri Malang, dan Universitas Negeri Padang yang bernaung dibawah Lembaga Pendidikan Tenaga Kependidikan (LPTK). Metode penelitian yang digunakan ialah metode survei. Pendekatan yang digunakan ialah pendekatan kuantitatif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner tertutup dan terbuka berbentuk google form. Teknik analisis data menggunakan skala persentase. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa persepsi mahasiswa ilmu perpustakaan tentang profesi pustakawan sekolah dinilai sudah cukup baik. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa menurut persepsi atau penilaian mahasiswa ilmu perpustakaan tentang profesi pustakawan dalam segi kompetensi, kemampuan sebagai penyedia layanan, dan kinerja sudah cukup dimiliki oleh pustakawan sekolah, namun tetap perlu adanya peningkatan atau pengembangan secara berkala dari ketiga aspek tersebut. This research is motivated by the existence of school libraries that are still not properly managed, the number of professional librarians especially school librarians who are still less than ideal, and several universities that open library science study programs with the aim to find out and describe how students' perceptions about the school librarian profession. This research was conducted to library science students from three study programs namely the Indonesia University of Education, Malang State University, and Padang State University under the auspices of the Educational Training Institute (LPTK). The research method used was a survey method. The approach used is a quantitative approach. Data collection techniques uses closed and open questionnaires in the form of google form. The data analysis technique uses percentage scale. The results showed that the perception of library science students about the school librarian profession was considered good enough. This shows that according to the perceptions or assessments of library science students about the librarian profession in terms of competence, ability as a service provider, and the performance of school librarians is sufficient, but it still needs to be improved or periodically developed from the three aspects.
