Abstract
Penelitian ini berawal dari temuan peneliti di kelas VIII-B SMP Negeri 3 Lembang dimana karakter peduli sosial siswa belum nampak, siswa kurang mampu menghormati orang lain serta kurang mampu untuk bekerjasama. Terlihat siswa mengucapkan kata-kata yang tidak semestinya diucapkan kepada temannya. Melihat permasalahan yang akan diteliti berkaitan dengan proses pembelajaran, maka peneliti memilih penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) model Kemmis dan Taggart dalam 3 siklus. Penggunaan model pembelajaran Value Clarification Technique (VCT), siswa dituntut untuk memahami dan mengamalkan nilai-nilai yang berlaku dalam masyarakat dan mengembangkan karakter peduli sosial. Dalam meningkatkan karakter peduli sosial siswa, pada setiap siklusnya karakter peduli sosial siswa semakin nampak dan terus meningkat. Dari penelitian tersebut, diperoleh hasil bahwa: 1) perencanaan model pembelajaran value clarification technique (VCT) untuk meningkatkan karakter peduli sosial siswa dapat berjalan dengan baik sesuai dengan tujuan yang telah disusun, 2) pelaksanaan penerapan model pembelajaran value clarification technique (VCT) untuk meningkatkan karakter peduli sosial siswa yang dapat dilakukan sebanyak 3 siklus, 3) hambatan yang dihadapi guru dalam penerapan model pembelajaran value clarification technique (VCT) dapat diatasi dengan baik, 4) Hasil penelitian tindakan kelas setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran value clarification technique (VCT) dapat meningkatkan karakter peduli sosial dalam pembelajaran IPS dikelas VIII-B SMP Negeri 3 Lembang. Kata Kunci: Karakter Peduli Sosial, Value Clarification Technique (VCT) This research began form the researchers' findings in class VIII-B of SMPN 3 Lembang where the students' social concern character had not yet been clearly seen, students were less able to respect other people and were less able to cooperate. In separate occasions, it was seen that students were caught using inappropriate language towards their peers. Judging from the fact that the problem that will be discussed in this study related to learning process, researcher chose Class Action Research method with Kemmis and Taggart model in three cycles. The research used Value Clarification Technique (VCT) learning model, students were required to understand and practice the values that apply in society and develop social concern characters. In improving the students' social concern character, in each cycle the character of students' social concern character was increasingly visible and continued to increase. From that research, researcher obtained these results: 1) Planning lesson using Values Clarification Technique (VCT) learning model to improve students' social concern character went well in accordance with the objectives that have been prepared, 2) the implementation of Values Clarification Technique (VCT) learning model to increase students' social concern character can be done in 3 cycles, 3) the barriers faced by teachers in the application of Values Clarification Technique (VCT) learning model was able to be handled well, 4) Result of class action research after Values Clarification Technique (VCT) learning model has been applied shown that it was able to increase social concern character via social studies learning in class VIII-B of SMPN 3 Lembang.
