Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengimplementasikan cognitive load theory pada perancangan multimedia animasi pembelajaran desain grafis percetakan. Menurut hasil studi lapangan, sekitar 48% siswa merasa kesulitan dalam mata pelajaran Desain Grafis Percetakan serta 15 dari 31 siswa lebih memilih pembelajaran menggunakan multimedia animasi. Kemudian cognitive load theory diimplementasikan untuk mengurangi beban ingatan siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Siklus Hidup Menyeluruh yang terdiri dari lima tahap serta desain penelitian One-Group Pretest-Posttest. Dari penelitian ini diperoleh hasil (1) pembangunan multimedia dilakukan melalui lima tahap, yaitu a) analisis, b) desain, c) pengembangan, d) implementasi, dan e) penilaian. Hasil validasi ahli multimedia mendapat persentase sebesar 90,35% yang masuk kedalam kategori Sangat Baik, (2) Indeks gain yang diperoleh adalah sebesar 0,69 sehingga peningkatan pemahaman siswa terhadap materi dapat dikategorikan Sedang, (3) Tanggapan siswa terhadap multimedia adalah sebesar 94% yang termasuk kedalam kategori Sangat Baik. Kata Kunci: Cognitive Load Theory, Multimedia Pembelajaran, Desain Multimedia, Animasi, Desain Grafis dan Percetakan ----- The purpose of this lesson is to implement cognitive load theory in the design of learning multimedia animation for Graphic Design and Publishing subject. Based on the resulted of field studies, around 48% of students have found some trouble in Graphic Design because it has been difficult for them. So, 15 of 31 students prefer to learn using animation multimedia. And then cognitive load theory is implement to reduce students' memory load because of all the reason. This lesson using the Comprehensive Life Cycle method which consists of five stages as well as the One-Group Pretest-Posttest research design. From this research the results are obtained (1) multimedia development is carry out through five stages. There are: a) analysis, b) design, c) development, d) implementation, and e) assessment. The results of multimedia expert validation got a percentage of 90.35% which is it falls in the category of Very Good, (2) the gain index obtained was 0.69 so that the increase in students' comprehension of the material. A Categorize of that characteristic is Medium, (3) students' responses to multimedia were 94 % which falls in the Very Good category.
