Abstract

Mengerjakan tugas tidak akan terlepas dari kewajiban yang harus dilaksanakan oleh siswa yang sedang menuntut ilmu di pendidikan formal. Namun, pada kenyataannya siswa memiliki kecenderungan untuk menunda dalam memulai, mengerjakan hingga menuntaskan tugas akademik yang diberikan oleh guru. Penundaan dalam bidang akademik disebut dengan prokrastinasi akademik. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh gambaran tentang prokrastinasi akademik siswa secara umum dan perbandingan prokrastinasi akademik yang dimiliki oleh siswa berdasarkan status sosial ekonomi keluarga. Penelitian dilaksanakan pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 40 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2018/2019. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode komparatif untuk melihat perbandingan prokrastinasi akademik siswa yang berstatus sosial ekonomi bawah, sedang maupun atas. Desain penelitian yakni cross sectional study dan menggunakan sampel jenuh. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian diadopsi dari instrumen procrastination assesment scale student (PASS). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 40 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2018/2019 mengalami prokrastinasi akademik sedang, kemudian tidak terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara prokrastinasi akademik siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 40 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2018/2019 dibandingkan dengan status sosial ekonomi keluarga, namun terdapat kecenderungan bahwa semakin tinggi status sosial ekonomi keluarga maka semakin tinggi pula prokrastinasi yang dialami oleh siswa dan sebaliknya semakin bawah status sosial ekonomi keluarga maka semakin rendah pula prokrastinasi akademik siswa. However, in reality, many students have a tendency to postpone in finishing their academic assignment that had given by the teacher. The postponement in the academic field is called as academic procrastination. The purpose of this current research is to gather the illustration of students’ academic procrastination, in general, compare with academic procrastination in students according to their social status economy in the family. The research was conducted to 8th-grade level students in Junior High School 40 Bandung academic year of 2018/2019. The research was implied comparative method to investigate students’ academic procrastination according to their social status economy in the family using a cross-sectional study research design and saturated sampling. The instrument was adopted from procrastination scale student (PASS). The result showed that the average of 8th-grade students in Junior High School 40 Bandung academic year of 2018/2019 were at the intermediate level. Furthermore, there was no significant difference between students’ academic procrastination of 8th-grade students Junior High School 40 Bandung with social status economy family. However, there was the tendency that the higher the social status economy in the family, the higher the chance of the students to become procrastinate. In contrast, the lower the social status economy in the family, the lower the students’ academic procrastination too. Keywords: procrastinate, social status economy, student
