Abstract

Kemampuan Literasi Sains merupakan hal penting bagi siswa untuk memahami gejala alam serta fenomena alam di lingkungan hidup. Namun, kemampuan literasi sains siswa Sekolah Dasar (SD) masih tergolong rendah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pembelajaran predict observe explain (POE) terhadap kemampuan literasi sains siswa pada materi peristiwa alam. Desain penelitian ini adalah kuasi eksperimen dengan menggunakan non-equivalent control group design. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas V SD se-Kecamatan Rancaekek. Teknik sampel yang digunakan adalah purposive sampling dan diperoleh sampel yaitu kelas V-A SDN Kencana Indah I sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas V-B SDN Kencana Indah I sebagai kelas kontrol. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah instrumen tes yang berupa tes kemampuan literasi sains, sedangkan instrumen non tes terdiri dari angket respon siswa, angket sikap siswa terhadap literasi sains, lembar observasi kinerja guru dan aktivitas siswa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa pembelajaran POE berpengaruh positif terhadap literasi sains siswa secara signifikan, pembelajaran POE (Gain=0,48) lebih baik daripada pembelajaran konvensional (Gain=0,18) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan literasi. Selain itu, siswa memberikan respon yang positif terhadap pembelajaran POE. Kata Kunci: Pembelajaran Predict Observe Explain, Literasi Sains, Peristiwa Alam. Science Literacy Ability is important for students to understand natural phenomena and natural phenomena in the environment. However, the scientific literacy skills of elementary school students (SD) are still relatively low. This study aims to determine the effect of learning predict observe explain (POE) on students' literacy skills in natural event material. The design of this study was quasi-experimental using non-equivalent control group design. The population in this study were all fifth grade elementary school students in Rancaekek Subdistrict. The sample technique used was purposive sampling and obtained samples namely V-A class Kencana Indah I SDN as the experimental class and V-B class Kencana Indah I SDN as the control class. The instruments used were test instruments in the form of tests of scientific literacy skills, while non-test instruments consisted of student response questionnaires, student attitude questionnaires to scientific literacy, observation sheets of teacher performance and student activities. Based on the results of the study it was found that POE learning had a positive effect on students' scientific literacy, POE learning (Gain = 0.48) was better than conventional learning (Gain = 0.18) in improving literacy skills.
