Abstract

Pada era kekinian, pentingnya menguasai bahasa Inggris terutama dalam bentuk tertulis (i.e. writing skill) telah menjadi suatu kebutuhan untuk berbagai kesempatan dalam kehidupan sehari-hari. Ketrampilan untuk menulis dalam bahasa Inggris merupakan ketrampilan yang kompoleks, bahkan mungkin yang paling kompleks. Studi ini emnghadirkan analisis terhadap suatu buku teks yang didesain khusus untuk mengajarkan dasar-dasar kepenulisan kepada peserta didik kanak-kanak. Analisis didasarkan pada elemen-elemen dalam kepenulisan bahasa Inggris. Hasil yang didapat ialah bahwa buku tersebut bermasalah dalam mengurutkan topik dan materi serta tidak tercfakupnya seluruh elemen kepenulisan bahasa Inggris terlepas dari menariknya sajian topik buklu tersebut. Tersimpulkan bahwa buku tersebut tidaklah cocok untuk dipelajari seorang diri oleh murid dan sangat membutuhkan bantuan seoirang gugru yang mendampingi Kata Kunci: writing, nature of writing, writing processes, writing difficulties, writing convention, writing textbook In this era, the importance of communicating in English, especially in written form (i.e. writing skill), has become a fundamental requirement for various occasions in life. Writing itself is arguably the most complicated skill. The present study analyses a textbook specified for teaching basic of writing from its coverage of the elements of English writing skill. The result showed that despite the book contains interesting topics, it has illogical arrangement of topic and material, and also incomplete coverage of the elements of English Writing Skill. The findings conclude that the book highly needs assistance from teacher in the learning session.
