Abstract

ABSTRAK

Masalah pencemaran lingkungan adalah isu global yang hingga saat ini gencar dipublikasikan, sehingga memicu perhatian dari banyak pihak untuk ikut berkontribusi dalam membangun kesadaran cinta lingkungan. Salah satu upaya untuk mewujudkan kesadaran tersebut adalah peningkatan sumber daya manusia (SDM) melalui pendidikan yang diterapkan sejak dini. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengembangkan sebuah desain model pembelajaran yang bertujuan untuk mengembangkan karakter cinta lingkungan yang diimplementasikan bagi siswa sekolah dasar kelas tinggi. Konsep model dibuat dengan pendekatan kreativitas musik, melalui pembelajaran lirik, timbre, nada, dan irama agar siswa mampu mebangun sikap empati terhadap masalah pencemaran yang terjadi di lingkungan sekitar, serta mampu mengekspresikan dan mensosialisasikan sikap dan juga wawasan ekologisnya melalui parade musikal yang dilaksanakan di ruang publik. Dalam pelaksanaan penelitian, metode yang digunakan adalah Design Based Research (DBR). Penelitian diawali dengan observasi lingkungan sekolah, wawancara guru, siswa, dan petugas kebersihan sekolah, analisis masalah, penyusunan desain model berdasarkan teori-teori pembelajaran, implementasi, dan diakhiri dengan refleksi serta evaluasi model. Hasil temuan menunjukkan keberhasilan dalam menerapkan model pembelajaran pendidikan karakter cinta lingkungan, yang diamati pada perkembangan sikap peduli lingkungan siswa melalui upaya mengurangi penggunaan kemasan plastik sekali pakai dan kesadaran menangani masalah sampah dengan bijak.

ABSTRACT
The environmental pollution as a global issue has sparked public attention to find solutions to the issue and to raise environmental awareness and care; where people can contribute to it. One of the solutions is to develop human resources through early education of environmental awareness and care. This study was conducted to develop a design of instructional model which aimed to build character development on environmental awareness and care for higher grade elementary school students. The model design was based on musical creativity approach with learning process through lyric, timbre, tone, and rhythm. It aimed at building the students’ empathy toward the environmental pollution in their environment, on expressing and campaigning their insight on ecology through musical parades in public place. In conducting the research, the study used Design-Based Research (DBR). The study began with observations on the school environment, interviews with teachers, students, and school cleaner staffs, then problem analysis, preparation of instructional model designs based on theories of learning, the implementation, lastly it ended with reflection and evaluation of models. The findings show success in applying the instructional model which was observed in the development of students' environmental caring character in their effort to reduce the using of single use plastic package and awareness of handling waste problems wisely.
