    Abstract

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh lemahnya pemahaman peserta didik SMK tentang mata pelajaran PPKn yang berdampak pada motivasi belajar dan kompetensi kewarganegaraan. Diperlukan trigger yang mampu mendorong peserta didik agar termotivasi dalam belajar PPKn sehingga memiliki pemahaman yang lebih baik terhadap mata pelajaran PPKn. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis peran Olimpiade Pendidikan Pancasila dan Kewarganegaraan Universitas Riau dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar dan kompetensi kewarganegaraan peserta didik SMK Negeri Di kota Pekanbaru. Pendekatan yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan wawancara, dokumentasi, dan observasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa setelah mengikuti kegiatan Olimpiade PPKn, terjadi peningkatan motivasi belajar sehingga berdampak pada peningkatan kompetensi kewarganegaraan peserta didik.
    This research is motivated due to the students’ lack of understanding deal with PPKn subjects which have an impact on learning motivation and citizenship competencies. A trigger is needed that is able to encourage students to be motivated in learning PPKn so that they have a better understanding of PPKn subjects. This research aims to analyse the role of the University of Riau Pancasila and Citizenship Education Olympiad in increasing learning motivation and citizenship competencies of students of Vocational High School Pekanbaru. The approach used in this research is a qualitative approach with descriptive methods. The technique of collecting data in this research used interviews, documentation, and observation. The results of this research showed that after taking the PPKn Olympics, there is an increase in learning motivation so that it has an impact on increasing the citizenship competence of students.
