Abstract

Skripsi ini berjudul “Perkembangan Pendidikan di Korea Selatan Pasca Revolusi Pendidikan hingga Brain Korea 21st Project tahun 1968 - 2005”. Studi ini secara garis besar ingin menjawab pertanyaan “bagaimana perkembangan pendidikan di Korea Selatan Pasca Revolusi Pendidikan hingga Brain Korea 21st Project tahun 1968 - 2005?”. Untuk membahas permasalahan tersebut, peneliti melakukan kajian dengan menggunakan metode historis, yaitu meliputi 4 langkah diantaranya ialah pengumpulan sumber kajian studi literatur, kritik sumber, interpretasi atau analisis terhadap sumber dan historiografi. Sedangkan teknik penelitian yang dilakukan yaitu dengan menggunakan studi literatur guna memperoleh gambaran mengenai perkembangan pendidikan di Korea Selatan setelah dikeluarkannya Revolusi Pendidikan dan Program Brain Korea 21st Project dari berbagai sumber tertulis. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang diperoleh oleh penulis ialah sebagai berikut: bangsa Korea yang sudah mengenal istilah pendidikan sejak masa Kerajaan berkuasa yang kemudian dikenal dengan konsep pendidikan tradisional, hingga mengenal pendidikan modern ialah ketika bangsa Barat masuk ke Korea tahun 1888 dan memperkenalkan ilmu – ilmu Barat. Titik tolak pendidikan Korea ialah dengan dikeluarkannya Piagam Pendidikan Nasional (1968) direalisasikan dengan program Wajib Belajar. Namun mengalami kendala dikarenakan krisis ekonomi (1997), sehingga pemerintah mengeluarkan Brain Korea 21 untuk dijadikan solusi bagi perkenomian Korea dengan tujuan menarik minat investor asing dan membuat ranking pendidikan Korea naik peringkat menurut penilaian PISA. Brain Korea 21 merupakan program ambisius pemerintah Korea yang dilaksanakan tahun 1999 – 2005 dengan menghabiskan dana sebanyak1,4 triliyun won untuk membiayai penelitian dalam bidang sains dan tekhnologi, kebudayaan, dan penelitian sosial.;---This thesis entitled “The Development of Education in South Korea After the Education Revolution until Brain Korea 21st Project in 1968 – 2005”. This study tried to answer the question, “How is The Development of Education in South Korea After the Education Revolution until Brain Korea 21st Project in 1968 – 2005?”. To answer that problem, the researcher implied a historiat method which consist of four steps, collecting textual resources over literature studies, sources critics, intrepretation or analysis of sources and historiography. Whereas the research technique used literature study from various textual resources to get the images of the education development in South Korea after The Revolution of Education and The Brain Korea 21st Project launched. The result of the research shows that Koreans who have known education since the time of the ruling Kingdom, which became know as the concept of traditional education, to know modern education is when the West entered Korea in 1888 and introduced Western science. The turning back point of education in Korea is the issuance of the National Education Charter (1968) or we know as The Revolution of Education realized with the Compulsory Education Program. However, it faced some constraints due to the economic crisis ( 1997), thus the government issued Brain Korea 21st to be used as solution for the Korea’s economy with the aim of attracting foreign investors and making the ranking of Korean Educationthat ranked by PISA, arise. Brain Korea 21st is an ambitious Korean government program implemented from 1999-2005 by spending 1,4 billion Won to fund research in science and technology, culture, and social research.
