Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi adanya kebutuhan perpustakaan sekolah untuk menjalankan pengembangan koleksi dalam memenuhi kebutuhan pemustakanya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji bagaimana hubungan analisis kebutuhan pemustaka dengan pengembangan koleksi di perpustakaan SMAN 1 Banyuasin III. Secara khusus, rumusan masalah terdiri dari (1) bagaimana pemenuhan koleksi buku yang diperlukan pemustaka perpustakaan SMAN 1 Banyuasin III; (2) bagaimana pengembangan koleksi perpustakaan SMAN 1 banyuasin III; dan (3) bagaimana hubungan analisis kebutuhan pemustaka dengan pengembangan koleksi perpustakaan SMAN 1 Banyuasin III. Secara praktis, diharapkan penelitian ini dapat memberikan kontribusi pada semua pemangku kepentingan dalam merumuskan kebijakan pengembangan koleksi. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah semua siswa di SMAN 1 Banyuasin III. Teknik pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik probability sampling dengan menggunakan proportionate stratified random sampling. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan angket, berisi daftar pertanyaan yang diisi oleh siswa sebagai responden. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa analisis kebutuhan pemustaka mempunyai hubungan korelasi dan signifikansi positif kuat terhadap pengembangan koleksi. Hasil ini memberikan bukti bahwa keterpenuhan kebutuhan pemustaka, seperti referensi, buku teks pelajaran, katalog, akan menentukan kualitas pengembangan koleksi perpustakaan. This research was motivated by a requirement of school libraries to perform collections development to meet the user needs. This study aimed to study how the relationship between user needs analysis and collection development of SMAN 1 Banyuasin III Library. Specifically, the research questions consisted of (1) how to fulfil the book collections required by the library users at SMAN 1 Banyuasin III; (2) how to develop library collections of SMAN 1 Banyuasin III; and (3) how the relationship between user needs analysis and collection development of SMAN 1 Banyuasin III Library. Practically, it was hoped that this research could contribute to all stakeholders in developing collection development policies. The method used in this study was a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The population in this study were all students at SMAN 1 Banyuasin III. The sampling technique utilised probability sampling techniques utilizing proportionate stratified random sampling. Data was collected with questionnaires, with a list of questions filled out by students as respondents. The results of this study indicated that the user needs analysis had a strong correlation and signification with positive relationship to the collections development. These results provided evidence that the fulfilment of user needs, such as references, textbooks, catalogues, would have determined the quality of library collection developments.
