Abstract

Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya kebutuhan akan program perkuliahan Ilmu Pengetahuan Bumi dan Antariksa (IPBA) yang dapat menghasilkan lulusan yang memiliki kualifikasi sesuai dengan Kerangka Kualifikasi Nasional Indonesia (KKNI). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan model Phenomena-Based Interactive Conceptual Instruction (P-BICI) pada perkuliahan IPBA yang valid dan teruji dalam membekalkan pengetahuan kebumian, kemampuan bernalar dan sikap spiritual mahasiswa calon guru Fisika. Penelitian ini dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan yang mencakup empat tahap kegiatan yaitu: tahap analisis kebutuhan, tahap pengembangan produk, tahap ujicoba lapangan dan tahap revisi produk. Uji implementasi produk P-BICI yang dihasilkan dilakukan baik pada skala terbatas maupun pada skala yang lebih luas. Ujicoba dalam skala terbatas dan skala lebih luas dilakukan dengan menggunakan metode pre-experiment desain one group pretest-posttest. Subyek penelitian pada ujicoba lapangan terbatas berjumlah 15 orang sedangkan pada ujicoba lapangan lebih luas berjumlah 24 orang mahasiswa calon guru Fisika pada salah satu perguruan tinggi di Provinsi Bengkulu. Keadaan kemampuan bernalar mahasiswa calon guru Fisika pada saat sebelum dan setelah mengikuti kegiatan perkuliahan IPBA menggunakan model P-BICI diukur dengan menggunakan tes kemampuan bernalar dalam bentuk esai, sedangkan keadaan sikap spiritual mahasiswa calon guru Fisika diinvestigasi dengan menggunakan skala sikap spiritual. Dari kegiatan pengembangan diperoleh produk model P-BICI beserta perangkatnya yang memiliki ciri karakteristik sebagai berikut: (a) berlandaskan teori konstruktivisme, (b) berorientasi pada pelatihan kemampuan bernalar ilmiah dan penanaman sikap spiritual, (c) menggunakan pendekatan pembejaran konseptual interaktif yang memiliki fitur: penanaman konsep di awal aktivitas perkuliahan, mengedepankan inteksi kelas, menggunakan teks, dan menggunakan bahan ajar berbasis riset terkini, (d) menggunakan metode demonstrasi, (e) berbasis fenomena kebumian, (e) berbantuan multimedia, dan (f) menggunakan strategi pertanyaan dialogis berantai. Hasil uji implementasi produk model P-BICI dalam kegiatan perkuliahan IPBA menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan produk model P-BICI memiliki keefektifan yang tinggi dalam meningkatkan kemampuan kognitif, memfasilitasi capaian level penalaran deduktif-induktif dan memperkuat kesadaran terhadap Tuhan dan sifat-sifatNya. Tidak terdapat pengaruh gender yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan kemampuan kognitif dan kemampuan bernalar maupun terhadap sikap spiritual. ----This research is motivated by the need of earth and space sciences (ESS) course that can produce graduates who have qualifications in accordance with the Indonesian National Qualification Framework (INQF). This research aims to produce a valid and tested Phenomena-Based Interactive Conceptual Instruction (P-BICI) model for ESS course in providing knowledge of earth, scientific reasoning ability and the spiritual attitude cultivation of prospective physics teacher students. This research was conducted by using research and development method which included four stages of activities those were: need assessment stage, product development stage, field testing stage, and product revision stage. The implementation test of the developed P-BICI model product was done on a limited scale as well as on a wider scale. The implementation test on a limited scale and wider scale were done by using pre-experiment method with one group pretest-posttest design. Subjects of the implementation test on limited scale amounted to 15 students whereas in a broader scale amounted to 24 prospective physics teacher students at one of the universities in the province of Bengkulu. The state of scientific reasoning ability of prospective physics teacher students before and after following ESS course activities with P-BICI model was measured by using scientific reasoning ability test in essay form, while the spiritual attitude of prospective physics teacher students was investigated by using the scale of spiritual attitude. From the research and development activities obtained P-BICI model product completed with teaching materials which has characteristics as follows: (a) based on constructivist theory, (b) oriented on providing in scientific reasoning and spiritual attitude cultivation, (c) using interactive conceptual instruction approach (d) using demonstration methods, (e) based on earth phenomena, (e) using multimedia, and (f) using dialogic-chain questioning strategies. The results of the P-BICI model product implementation test in the IPBA course show that the use of PB-ICI model has a high effectiveness in improving cognitive ability, facilitating the achievement of deductive-inductive reasoning level and strengthening faith in God and His attributes. There is a significant gender effect on the improvement of cognitive ability and reasoning ability but has no effect on the cultivation of spiritual attitudes.
