Abstract
Penelitian dilatarbelakangi oleh adanya kebutuhan akan model praktikum yang dapat melatihkan keterampilan abad 21 bagi peserta didik dalam menghadapi tantangan hidup di abad 21. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk model Higher Order Thinking Laboratory (HOT-Lab) yang valid dan teruji untuk kegiatan praktikum Fisika Dasar bagi mahasiswa calon guru fisika. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode penelitian dan pengembangan yang mencakup empat tahap kegiatan yaitu: tahap analisis kebutuhan, tahap pengembangan produk, tahap ujicoba lapangan dan tahap revisi produk. Uji implementasi produk model HOT-Lab yang dihasilkan dilakukan pada skala terbatas dan pada skala yang lebih luas. Ujicoba dalam skala terbatas menggunakan metode pre-experiment desain one group pretest-posttest sedangkan ujicoba dalam skala lebih luas menggunakan metode quasi-experiment semu desain the matching only control group pretest-posttest. Subyek penelitian pada ujicoba lapangan terbatas berjumlah 20 orang sedangkan pada ujicoba lapangan lebih luas berjumlah 60 orang mahasiswa calon guru fisika pada salah satu perguruan tinggi di lingkungan Kemenag di Provinsi Jawa Barat. Transferable skills (keterampilan berpikir kritis, keterampilan berpikir kreatif dan keterampilan berkomunikasi tertulis) mahasiswa calon guru fisika sebelum dan setelah mengikuti kegiatan praktikum Fisika Dasar dengan model HOT-Lab diukur dengan menggunakan tes keterampilan berpikir kritis, keterampilan berpikir kreatif dan kemampuan berkomunikasi tertulis dalam bentuk esai. Dari kegiatan pengembangan diperoleh produk desain HOT-Lab lengkap dengan lembar kerja mahasiswa (LKM) yang memiliki ciri karakteristik sebagai berikut: a) berlandaskan pada teori konstruktivisme, b) berorientasi pada kegiatan pemecahan masalah kontekstual, c) menggunakan real world problem sebagai titik tolak kegiatan praktikum, d) terdiri atas tiga sesi kegiatan yaitu sesi pra-lab, sesi lab, dan sesi pasca-lab, e) berorientasi pada pembekalan keterampilan abad 21, f) Menggunakan bantuan teknologi informasi dan komunikasi (TIK), dan g) setting kegiatannya kooperatif-kolaboratif. Hasil uji implementasi produk model HOT-Lab dalam kegiatan praktikum Fisika Dasar menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan model HOT-Lab dalam kegiatan praktikum Fisika Dasar memiliki pengaruh yang kuat terhadap peningkatan transferable skills. Penggunaan model HOT-Lab memiliki keefektifan yang tinggi dalam meningkatkan keterampilan berpikir kritis, keterampilan berpikir kreatif dan kemampuan berkomunikasi tertulis dan lisan mahasiswa calon guru fisika. Selain itu, gender tidak memberikan pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan transferable skills yang ditinjau. ---This research was motivated by the need for practicum models that facilitate the development of learners’ 21st century skills in facing the challenges of the 21st century. This study aims to produce valid and reliable design of Higher Order Thinking Laboratory (HOT-Lab) for the purpose of practicum activities of Fundamental Physics student teachers. This research utilized research and development method with four phases of activities, including: need analysis phase, product development phase, field testing phase, and product revision phase. The product implementation testing of HOT-Lab model was conducted both in a limited scale and in a wider one. The limited scale testing was done using the pre-experiment design method of one group pretest-posttest and the wider scale testing was conducted using quasi experimental design method of the matching only control group pretest-posttest. The research subjects of limited scale testing were 20 Physics student teachers whereas the subjects involved in wider scale testing were 60 Physics student teachers at one of the universities in the Ministry of Religious Affairs in West Java Province. Transferable skills (critical thinking skills, creative thinking skills and communication skills in writing) of Physics student teachers prior to and after following the Fundamental Physics practicum activities with HOT-Lab design were measured using critical thinking skills tests, creative thinking skills and communication skills in written essay form. The results of development activities were HOT-Lab model product along with Student Work Sheet (LKM) having the following characteristics: a) constructivism theory based, b) contextual problem-solving activity oriented, c) using real world problem as starting point of practicum activity, d) consisting of three sessions; pre-lab session, lab session, and post-lab session; e) 21st century skills training oriented; f) using ICT (Information and Communication Technology) assistance; and g) cooperative-collaborative activity setting. The results of the HOT-Lab model product implementation test in the Fundamental Physics practice indicated that the use of HOT-Lab model had a strong impact on the improvement of transferable skills. The use of HOT-Lab model had a high degree of effectiveness in improving critical thinking skills, creative thinking skills and communication skills both in written and oral form of Physics preservice teachers. In addition, gender did not have a significant effect on the improvement of transferable skills.
