Abstract

Penelitian korelasional tipe prediktif ini bertujuan untuk menyelidiki pengaruh kemampuan siswa dalam hal penguasaan konsep dan literasi kuantitatif terhadap kualitas argumentasi. Penelitian ini melibatkan 72 siswa kelas XI SMA dari dua sekolah negeri yang berada di Kabupaten Subang, Jawa Barat. Sampel penelitian dihimpun melalui metode pengambilan sampel secara acak. Instrumen yang digunakan meliputi tes multiple choice (24 item soal penguasaan konsep), tes uraian (4 item soal literasi kuantitatif dan 3 item soal argumentasi), kuesioner, dan wawancara. Semua tes yang diujikan berada dalam ruang lingkup materi sistem koordinasi manusia. Metode pengolahan statistik yang digunakan adalah uji statistik deskriptif dan inferensial (uji korelasi Pearson Product Moment dan uji regresi linier berganda). Hasil uji korelasional menunjukkan adanya hubungan yang positif dan signifikan antara variabel penguasaan konsep dan literasi kuantitatif terhadap kualitas argumentasi. Hasil uji regresional menunjukkan penguasaan konsep dan literasi kuantitatif berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap kualitas argumentasi siswa. Hasil persamaan regresi dapat memprediksi dengan valid pengaruh variabel penguasaan konsep dan literasi kuantitatif terhadap kualitas argumentasi. Temuan lain pada penelitian ini menunjukkan profil penguasaan konsep siswa pada materi sistem koordinasi masih tergolong rendah. Pencapaian literasi kuantitatif siswa masih berada pada level sedang. Pencapaian indikator literasi kuantitatif siswa berdasarkan skor tertinggi sampai terendah adalah kalkulasi, interpretasi, representasi, dan analisis. Level kualitas argumentasi siswa masih berada pada level satu yakni siswa hanya sebatas mengemukakan klaim dengan tepat.---- This correlational study was aimed to investigate the effect of students’ ability on conceptual mastery and quantitative literacy toward argumentation quality. It involved 72 students from the second grade of senior high school at two national schools in Subang, West Java, Indonesia. They were collected by using simple random sampling method. This study used multiple choice test (24 items on conceptual mastery's test), essay test (4 items on quantitative literacy's test and 3 items on argumentation's test), questionnaire, and interview as the research instruments. It was tested within the scope of the human coordination system. This study used descriptive and inferential (Pearson Product Moment as correlation test and multiple linear regression) statistical methods. The result of correlation test showed a positive and significant relationship between conceptual mastery and quantitative literacy toward the quality of argumentation. The result of regression test showed that the conceptual mastery and quantitative literacy have a significant effect on the quality of students' argumentation. Regression equation was precise and valid to describe the influence of conceptual mastery and quantitative literacy towards the quality of argumentation. Other finding in this study indicated that the students' conceptual mastery in the material of human coordination system were still at the low level. Their achievement on quantitative literacy were at the moderate level. Their quantitative literacy achievement from the highest to the lowest were calculation, interpretation, representation, and analysis. Students’ level on argumentation quality were still at the first level or their were just submitting a correct claim without warrants and reasoning.
