Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk melihat pengaruh pembelajaran berbasis STEAM terhadap kreatifitas dan penguasaan kognitif siswa pada konsep bunyi. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah mixed method dengan desain convergent parallel. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas delapan pada salah satu sekolah menengah pertama swasta di Bandung yang mengimplementasikan kurikulum cambridge untuk mata pelajaran sains. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah convenience sampling dengan 12 siswa sebagai partisipan. Data kuantitatif pada penelitian ini dibuat mengacu terhadap bloom’s taxonomy edisi revisi oleh Anderson. Sementara, data kualitatif didapatkan dari rubrik kreatifitas dan kuesioner. Rubrik kreatifitas yang digunakan diadaptasikan dari Creative Product Analysis Matrix (CPAM) yang dikembangkan oleh Besemer dan Treffinger. Dimensi kreatifitas yang dinilai pada penelitian ini adalah novelty, resolution dan style. Berdasarkan hasil analisis riset, telah didapatkan bahwa: Pertama, Penguasaan kognitif siswa meningkat sebanyak 0.302 dan dikategorikan sebagai peningkatan medium. Kedua, seluruh kreatifitas siswa dikategorikan sebagai baik. Ketiga, respon siswa terhadap implementasi pembelajran berbasis STEAM menunjukkan respon yang positif pada semua indikator. Secara garis besar, kreatifitas, penguasaan konsep dan respon siswa yang didapat setelah implementasi pembelajaran berbasis STEAM pada konsep bunyi seluruhnya dikategorikan sebagai baik. Hasil ini didapatkan karena implementasi dari STEAM yang melibatkan proses pemaparan masalah, proses kreatif dam pengalaman emosional.;--- This research is aimed to investigate the impact of STEAM-Based Learning on students’ creativity and cognitive mastery in learning sound. The method used in this research was mixed method with convergent parallel design. Population of this research was all of eight grader in one of private secondary school in Bandung which implement cambridge curriculum for science course. The sampling technique used was convenience sampling with 12 students as participant. The quantitative data of this research was obtained through objective test that was made by referring to the revised edition of Bloom’s Taxonomy by Anderson. Meanwhile, the qualitative data was obtained through creativity rubric and questionnaire. Creativity rubric used was adapted from Creative Product Analysis Matrix (CPAM) developed by Besemer and Treffinger. Creativity dimension assessed were novelty, resolution and style. According to the analysis of research, it is obtained that: First, students’ cognitive mastery is improved as much as 0.302 that is categorized as medium improvement. Second, all students’ creativity is categorized as good. Third, students’ impression toward implementation of STEAM-based learning showed positive impression in all indicators. Overall, creativity, cognitive mastery and impression of students investigated after implementation of STEAM-based learning in learning sound is all categorized as good. This result is gained due to implementation of STEAM that include presentation of situation, creative process and emotional experience
