Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kuasi eksperimen dengan desain nonequivalent control group design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas VIII tahun ajaran 2016/2017 disalah satu SMP di Kabupaten Serang Provinsi Banten. Sampel penelitian, yaitu kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol, dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik purposive sampling. Pada kelas eksperimen dilaksanakan melalui model pembelajaran learning cycle 7E dengan pendekatan saintifik, sedangkan pada kelas kontrol menggunakan model pembelajaran konvensional. Instrumen yang digunakan adalah instrumen tes kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis, serta instrumen non-tes yang terdiri atas skala self-esteem Siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa (1) Model pembelajaran learning cycle 7E dengan pendekatan saintifik dapat mendorong pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa secara keseluruhan maupun berdasarkan KAM (tinggi, sedang, dan rendah); (2) Model pembelajaran learning cycle 7E dengan pendekatan saintifik dapat mendorong pencapaian dan self-esteem siswa secara keseluruhan maupun berdasarkan KAM sedang. This research is a quasi experimental research with nonequivalent control group design. The population of this study is all students of class VIII academic year 2016/2017 in one junior high school in Serang regency of Banten province. Research sample, that is experiment class and control class, was chosen by using purposive sampling technique. In the experimental class implemented through learning cycle 7E learning model with scientific approach, while in the control class using conventional learning model. The instrument used is a test instrument of mathematical problem solving ability, as well as non-test instrument consisting of Student self-esteem scale. The results showed that (1) learning model of learning cycle 7E with scientific approach can encourage the achievement and improvement of students' mathematical problem solving ability as a whole and based on KAM (high, medium and low); (2) 7E learning cycle learning model with scientific approach can encourage the achievement and self-esteem of students as a whole and based on medium KAM
