Abstract
Characterization of Critical Thinking Skills Tests Using Item Response Theory Analysis in Static Fluid Materials Critical thinking skills are important for teachers, students, and other administrators. However, considerable attention has not been given to the measurement of critical thinking skills on certain scientific domains such as physics. This study aim to characterize critical thinking skills in the categories of verbal reasoning, hypothesis testing, argument analysis, likelihood and uncertainty analysis, problem solving and decision-making. The method used in this research is descriptive and quantitative approach. In this research there are four stages that carried out the preliminary stage, test construction phase, test phase, and characterization stage. The results showed that the test that have been constructed are valid and reliable for students who have average ability to high-ability (above average). Based on these findings it can be stated that the problems that have been made are able to measure critical thinking skills on static fluid materials. Keywords: critical thinking skills; characterization; descriptive; quantitative; valid; reliable.
