Abstract

Pembelajaran membaca merupakan salah satu dari empat keterampilan berbahasa yang harus dikuasai siswa dalam pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia. Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan masalah yang ditemukan yaitu, siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam menggeneralisasikan hasil dari kegiatan membaca. Kesulitan ini disebabkan kecepatan membaca yang rendah serta tingkat pemahaman yang rendah pula. Oleh karena itu, peneliti mencoba menggunakan solusi berupa penerapan Metode Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) Berbasis Kecerdasan Visual. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh metode Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) Berbasis Kecerdasan Visual dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa. Peneliti menggunakan desain penelitian Quasi Eksperimental Design dengan model penelitian Nonequivalent Control Group Design. Populasinya adalah siswa kelas VIII di SMPN 15 Bandung. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah peserta siswa VIII-F sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VIII-G sebagai kelas kontrol. Data diperoleh dari hasil tes objektif berupa pilihan ganda sebanyak 15 soal, wawancara, angket dan observasi yang kemudian dianalisis dengan, uji validitas, uji reabilitas, uji daya pembeda soal, uji tingkat kesulitan soal, uji normalitas, uji homogenitas dan uji hipotesis (uji t) dan uji N-Gain. Hasil pengolahan data melalui perhitungan statistik dengan menggunakan uji t menunjukkan hasil uji t pada kelas eksperimen lebih kecil dari pada kelas kontrol dengan perbedaan nilai t sebesar 14.705. Hal ini berari, H0 ditolak, sehingga terdapat perbedaan pengaruh yang signifikan antara kelas ekperimen dengan kelas kontrol pada siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 15 Bandung. Dengan demikian, metode Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) Berbasis Kecerdasan Visual dapat digunakan baik guru maupun siswa untuk meningkatkan kemampuan membaca siswa.----------Learning to read is one of the four language skills that must be mastered by students in learning Indonesian. This study was conducted based on the problems found that is, students have difficulty in generalizing the results of reading activities. This difficulty is due to low reading speed and low comprehension. Therefore, researchers tried to use a solution of the application of methods Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) Based Visual Intelligence. This study aims to determine the effect of the method Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) Visual Intelligence Based in improving students' reading ability. Researchers used a study design Quasi-Experimental Design with a research model Nonequivalent Control Group Design. The population is a grade VIII student at SMPN 15 Bandung. The sample in this study were VIII-F students as experimental class and VIII-G as control class. The data obtained from the objective test result of multiple choice as much as 15 questions, interviews, questionnaires and observations are then analyzed with, validity test, test reliability, differentiation test questions, difficulty level test questions, normality test, homogeneity test and hypothesis test (t test ) and the N-Gain test. The result of data processing through statistical calculation by using t test shows t test result in experiment class is smaller than control class with different t value equal to 14.705. It tells us, H 0 is rejected, so that there is a significant difference between the experimental class control class in the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 15 Bandung. Thus, methods Directed Reading Thinking Activity (DRTA) Based Visual Intelligence can be used both teachers and students to improve students' reading ability.
