Abstract

Penelitian ini didasari oleh pemikiran bahwa perlunya mengganti kebudayaan atau metode pembelajaran sains untuk mendapatkan pembelajaran bermakna serta meningkatkan hasil belajar, salah satunya dengan peer learning. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penerapan metode peer learning dengan menggunakan peta konsep terhadap hasil belajar siswa SMA pada bahasan substansi genetik. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kuasi-eksperimen jenis non-equivalent control group design. Terdapat dua kelas penelitian, satu kelas sebagai kontrol, kelas yang lain diberi perlakuan yaitu pembelajaran peer learning. Sampel pada penelitian ini adalah dua kelas XII MIA di SMA Negeri 4 Bandung tahun ajaran 2016/2017 yang dipilih menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Hasil belajar siswa didapat melalui tes mengenai bahasan substansi genetik berupa soal pilihan ganda dengan lima option. Partisipasi siswa dalam kegiatan pembelajaran peer learning dinilai menggunakan skala penilaian diskusi dan presentasi. Hasil tes yang didapat diuji menggunakan uji perbedaan rata-rata. Skala penilaian diskusi dan presentasi diolah dalam bentuk persentase. Rata-rata nilai gain kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen memiliki nlai signifikansi 0,043 dimana nilai signifikansinya lebih kecil dari taraf signifikansi (α) 0,05 yang menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan. Skala penilaian diskusi dan presentasi berisi aspek-aspek beserta kriterianya. Aspek dengan persentase paling tinggi mencapai 100% adalah aspek yang menilai kemampuan siswa menggunakan bahasa yang baik dan benar. Sedangkan aspek dengan presentase paling rendah sebesar 64% adalah aspek yang menilai kemampuan siswa menyampaikan argumen. Kesimpulannya, penerapan metode peer learning terhadap hasil belajar siswa pada bahasan substansi genetik sudah menunjukkan pengaruh secara signifikan dan siswa secara keseluruhan sudah menunjukkan partisipasi yang baik dan aktif dalam kegiatan peer learning. The research was motivated by the notion of being in a need to improve learning method in science program in order to enhance students’ learning outcome, one of the methods includes peer learning. This present study was aimed at examining the influence of peer learning method with concept maps on senior high school students’ learning outcome specifically in learning genetic substance. The study employed quasi experimental study with non-equivalent group design. There were two groups of the study with one being controlled group and another as the experimental group, which was given the treatment. The sample of the research was two classes of Twelfth-Graders students at Senior High School of 4 Bandung, academic year 2016/2017, and it was chosen randomly. The students’ learning outcome was obtained by administering a multiple choice test concerning genetic substance. Students’ learning involvement in peer learning method was assessed by employing scoring rubric of discussion and presentation. The test results were verified by using average different test. The scoring rubric of discussion and presentation were analyzed in the form of percentage. The average gain value of control class and experiment class has a significance value of 0.043 where the significance value is smaller than the significance level (α) 0.05 which shows significant difference.The aspect in scoring rubric was supposed to be 100%, such as the ability to use the appropriate language. Meanwhile, the lowest aspect with 64% referred to the capability of offering arguments. In conclusion, the application of peer learning methods to student learning outcomes on the subject of genetic substance has shown significant influence and the students as a whole have shown good and active participation in peer learning activities.
