Abstract

Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk memperoleh profil model mental siswa pada materi reaksi reduksi-oksidasi. Penelitian ini dilakukan disalah satu SMA Negeri di Kota Bandung dengan enam orang siswa kelas X IPA sebagai subjek penelitiannya. Metode yang digunakan pada penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif dengan instrumen penelitian berupa Tes Diagnostik Model Mental-Interview About Event (TDM-IAE). Berdasar-kan hasil penelitian, diperoleh beberapa temuan terkait profil model mental siswa pada materi reaksi reduksi-oksidasi terdapat dua kategori. Katagori pertama yaitu model mental tipe 2b, siswa menjawab benar sebagian dengan menggunakan pertanyaan probing pada konsep persamaan reaksi kimia dan reaksi reaksi redoks berdasarkan perubahan bilangan oksidasi dan menjawab salah dalam konsep reaksi redoks berdasarkan transfer elektron pada siswa kemampuan rendah. Sedangkan kategori kedua yaitu model mental tipe 2a, siswa menjawab benar sebagian tanpa menggunakan pertanyaan probing, pada konsep reaksi redoks berdasarkan perubahan biloks, Kata kunci : model mental, IAE, reaksi reduksi-oksidasi The purpose of this study is to obtain a mental model of the students redox reaction. This study was conducted at one high schools in Bandung with six students of class X science as a research subject. The purpose of this study is to obtain a mental model of the students redox reaction. The method used in this research is descriptive research with Mental Model Diagnostic Tests - Interview About Event (TDM-IAE) instrument. The research findings suggest that the students’ mental models in redox reaction is there are two categories. First Catagoriy is model mental type 2b, students correct answers and answers probing questions in the equation of chemistry reaction and redox reaction base on oxidation number changing and wrong answer in redox reaction base on electron transfer on law and middle students. Then second category is model mental type 2a, students only correct answer partially and without the probing questions in redox reaction base on the oxidation number changing.
