Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya kemampuan komunikasi interpersonal siswa yang diduga terkait dengan kepercayaan diri. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh data empiris tentang (1) gambaran kepercayaan diri siswa kelas X Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri 15 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2016/2017 (2) gambaran kemampuan komunikasi interpersonal siswa kelas X Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri 15 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2016/2017 (3) kontribusi kepercayaan diri terhadap kemampuan komunikasi interpersonal siswa kelas X Sekolah Menengah Atas Negeri 15 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2016/2017. Metode yang digunakan adalah deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Sampel yang digunakan dalam penelitian sebanyak 169 siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kepercayaan diri dan kemampuan komunikasi interpersonal siswa kelas X SMAN 15 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2016/2017 berada pada kategori sedang. Ditemukan terdapat kontribusi positif antara kepercayaan diri terhadap kemampuan komunikasi interpersonal siswa kelas X SMAN 15 Bandung Tahun Ajaran 2016/2017. Kepercayaan diri turut menentukan tinggi rendahnya komunikasi interpersonal siswa.;--- The background of this study was students’ lack of ability of interpersonal communication which suspected to be associated with self-confidence. The aim of this study was to obtain empirical data on (1) description of grade X students’ self-confidence at 15 Senior High School of Bandung (SMAN 15 Bandung) 2016/2017 academic year, (2) description of grade X students’ interpersonal communication ability at 15 Senior High School of Bandung (SMAN 15 Bandung) 2016/2017 academic year, (3) contributions of self-confidence toward interpersonal communication ability for grade X students at 15 Senior High School of Bandung (SMAN 15 Bandung) 2016/2017 academic year. The method used in this study was descriptive with quantitative approach. The samples of this study were 169 students. Result of this study showed that, grade X students’ self-confidence and interpersonal communication at 15 Senior High School of Bandung (SMAN 15 Bandung) 2016/2017 academic year were in medium category. There were found positive contributions of self-confidence toward interpersonal communication ability of grade X students at SMAN 15 Bandung 2016/2017 academic year, which means self-confidence determines the level of students’ interpersonal communication.
