Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh perpustakaan yang perlu melakukan pemeliharaan bahan perpustakaan agar bahan perpustakaan tetap terlindung dari kerusakan. Perpustakaan harus melakukan pemeliharaan pada bahan perpustakaan tercetak dengan sebaik-baiknya agar setiap bahan perpustakaan terlindungi baik dari isi informasinya maupun kondisi fisiknya, sehingga bahan perpustakaan yang utuh tersebut dapat memenuhi kebutuhan informasi bagi setiap pemustaka. Pokok masalah penelitian ini yaitu untuk melihat hubungan pemeliharaan bahan perpustakaan tercetak dengan pemanfaatan koleksi di Perpustakaan Politeknik STT Tekstil Bandung. Penelitian ini menjawab permasalahan penelitian yang telah dirumuskan yaitu “Bagaimana hubungan pemeliharaan bahan perpustakaan tercetak dengan pemanfaatan koleksi di Perpustakaan Politeknik STT Tekstil Bandung?.”Secara khusus permasalahan dalam penelitian ini yaitu mendeskripsikan hubungan (1) Pelestarian (preservation); (2) Pencegahan kerusakan (prevention); dan (3) Perbaikan (restoration) bahan perpustakaan tercetak dengan pemanfaatan koleksi. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Perpustakaan Politeknik STT Tekstil Bandung dengan menggunakan metode deskriptif korelasional pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi penelitian ini adalah anggota Perpustakaan Politeknik STT Tekstil Bandung sebanyak 579 orang dengan Sampel sebanyak 85 pemustaka. Penentuan sampel diambil dengan menggunakan teknik sampling insidental. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan terdapat hubungan antara pemeliharaan bahan perpustakaan tercetak dengan pemanfaatan koleksi di Perpustakaan Politeknik STT Tekstil Bandung dengan tingkat hubungan ada pada kategori kuat dan berkriteria positif serta signifkan. This study is conducted based on the need of library to maintain the library materials thus they can be regularly protected from the damage. Libraries have to perform felicitous maintenance on the library printed materials to preserve both their content of information and their physical condition thus the entire library materials can meet the information required by the visitors. This study is aimed at investigating the relationship between the maintenance of library printed materials and the utilization of library collections at Polytechnic STT Textile Bandung. This study is conducted to answer the problem formulated, that is “How is the relationship between the maintenance of library printed materials and the utilization of library collections at Polytechnic STT Textile Bandung?.” In particular, the purposes of this study are to describe the relationship between (1) preservation; (2) prevention; and (3) restoration of library printed materials and the utilization of the library collections. This study is conducted at Polytechnic STT Textile Bandung Library using a descriptive correlation method with quantitative approach. The population of this study was 579 library visitors and 85 of them were considered as sample. The sample was chosen by using incidental sampling technique. The results of this study indicate that there is a significant relationship between the maintenance of library printed materials and the utilization of library collections at Polytechnic STT Textile Bandung with the level of relations is in the category of strong and positive and significant.
