    Abstract

    Upaya untuk meningkatkan kemampuan matematika termasuk kemampuan pemahaman instrumental dan relasional perlu terus dilakukan. Penelitian ini dirancang untuk meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman instrumental dan relasional. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah metode kuasi eksperimen menggunakan desain kelompok kontrol pretes-postes (pretes-postes control group design). Subyek dari penelitian ini adalah kelas VII-H sebagai kelas eksperimen dan VII-G sebagai kelas kontrol. Di kelas eksperimen menggunakan pembelajaran matematika dengan Index Card Match, sedangkan kelas kontrol menggunakan pembelajaran matematika biasa. Instrumen dalam penelitian ini meliputi seperangkat alat tes, yaitu soal-soal pretes dan postes mengenai kemampuan pemahaman instrumental dan relasional siswa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang mendapatkan pembelajaran matematika dengan Index Card Match peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis dan relasionalnya lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran matematika biasa, sedangkan peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman instrumental tidak lebih baik daripada siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran matematika biasa. Efforts to improve math ability including the ability to instrumental and relational understanding is needed. This study is designed to improve the ability of instrumental and relational understanding. The method used is the method of quasi-experimental design using a control group pretest-posttest (pretest-posttest control group design). The subjects of this study were class VII-H as an experimental class and class VII-G as a control. In the mathematics classroom learning with experiments using Index Card Match, while the control class using ordinary mathematics learning. Instrument in this study includes a set of test tools, namely questions about the pretest and posttest instrumental and relational understanding of the capabilities of students. The results showed that the students who get the learning of mathematics with Index Card Match improved understanding of mathematical and relational abilities better than students who received regular mathematics learning, while increasing understanding of instrumental ability is not better than students who received regular math learning.
