Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh rendahnya hasil belajar siswa dilihat dari nilai ulangan tengah semester kelas XI IIS di SMA Negeri 1 dan 15 Bandung. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mengetahui kemampuan metakognitif siswa dilihat dari jenis kelamin, usia, pendidikan orangtua, pekerjaan orang tua dan penghasilan orang tua. Metode penelitian yang di gunakan adalah deskriptif.Responden pada penelitian ini sebanyak 282 orang.Teknik mengumpulan data menggunakan angket. Teknik analisis data, menggunakan perhitungan statistika deskriptif yaitu: mean; median; modus;serta tabulasi silang. Hasil menunjukan: (i) metakognitif siswa berada pada kategori tinggi; (ii) siswa laki-laki dan perempuan memiliki perbedaan kemampuan metakognitif; (iii) siswa pada usia 16 tahun memiliki kemampuan metakognitif tinggi; (iv) siswa yang orang tuanya lulusan perguruan tinggi memiliki kemampuan metakognitif tinggi; (v) siswa yang orang tuanya bekerja sebagai wiraswasta memiliki metakognitif tinggi; (vi) siswa yang orang tuanya berpenghasilan tinggi memiliki kemampuan metakognitif tinggi.----------This research is motivated by the poor learning result from the students, it seen from the midterm tests of some class XI IIS in SMA Negeri 1 and SMA Negeri 15 bandung. This research purpose is actually to find out the metacognitive ability of students, and it’s abserved from gender, age, their parents education, job and also their parent income. This research is using a descriptive method. The respondent of this research is around 282 people. Questionnaire is the technique which used for collecting data on this research. Data analysis technique using the descriptive statistical calculations, that is mean, median, modus and also cross tabulation. Then the result indicated : (i) metacognitive students are on the high category; (ii) Male and female students have a different metacognitive abilities; (iii) students at the 16th age have a high metaconitive abilities; (iv) students whose their parents are a collage graduate have a high metacognitive abilities; (v) students whose their parents work as an entrepreneurs have a high metacognitive abilities
