Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh hasil penelitian PISA tahun 2015 yang menunjukkan kemampuan membaca siswa Indonesia pada peringkat 62 dari 70 negara. Hal tersebut ditunjukkan dengan terbatasnya bahan ajar alternatif untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca, terutama bahan ajar membaca kritis. Berdasarkan beberapa hal tersebut, tujuan penilitian ini adalah mengembangkan bahan ajar jenis modul untuk meningkatkan keterampilan membaca kritis. Metode penelitian dan pengembangan yang digunakan adalah hasil adaptasi metode penelitian pengembangan Dick, Carey, dan Carey (2009), yang mencakup sembilan tahapan penelitian dan pengembangan. Teknik wawancara, penyebaran angket dan kuesioner, serta observasi ketersediaan bahan ajar digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi kebutuhan siswa terhadap bahan ajar membaca kritis. Materi membaca kritis hasil adaptasi dari Carnine, dkk. (1990), dan Spears (2006), yang dikembangkan menjadi indikator-indikator pembelajaran mencakup: (1) pengertian dan ciri pembaca kritis, (2) menemukan tujuan penulis, (3) membedakan fakta dan opini, (4) mengidentifikasi kelayakan penulis, (5) mengidentifikasi argumen, (6) menganalisis kekeliruan argumen. Pemajanan materi membaca kritis menggunakan model instruksi langsung yang telah diadaptasi menjadi empat aspek, antara lain: (1) orientasi, (2) uraian materi, (3) aktivitas dan komentar, (4) latihan mandiri. Berdasarkan analisis kebutuhan, maka bahan ajar yang dikembangkan adalah modul membaca kritis model instruksi langsung berbasis karakter. Uji kelayakan bahan ajar menggunakan validasi kepada 4 orang ahli dan 3 praktisi pembelajaran bahasa Indonesia yang menghasilkan rata-rata perolehan skor 92% pada tahap validasi kedua. Pengujian dilakukan dengan uji coba perseorangan dan uji coba lapangan, yang menghasilkan rata-rata tanggapan siswa 92% pada uji coba perseorangan, dan rata-rata tanggapan siswa 89% pada uji coba lapangan. Hasil implementasi modul menggunakan metode onegrup pretest-posttest menunjukkan bahwa modul membaca kritis model instruksi langsung berbasis karakter mampu meningkatkan kemampuan membaca kritis siswa. ---------- The Background of this research is based on the results of PISA 2015 study, show that the rank of reading ability of Indonesian students on 62 from 70 countries. On the other hand, the lack of avaiability of textbooks or alternative textbooks to improve students critical reading skill. Based on that issue, the aims of this research is to develop critical reading material. The methods are adapted from Dick, Carey, and Carey method (2009), which included nine stages of research and development. To obtain the needs of student and teacher critical reading materials, this research is using interview, questionnaires, and observation technique. Critical reading material are adapted from Carnine, et al. (1990), and Spears (2006), which developed into the indicators, which including: (1) the definition and characteristics of a critical reader, (2) finding the author's purpose, (3) distinguish between fact and opinion, (4) identify the feasibility of the author, (5) identify the argument, (6) analyze the fallacy of argument. Critical reading material integrated using direct instruction model, that has been adapted to four aspects: (1) orientation, (2) a description of the material, (3) activity and comments, (4) the exercise independently. Based on the needs, the development of critical reading materials is critical reading module with direct instruction model based on character. The module is validated to 4 experts and 3 practitioners of Indonesian Language Learning. The result showed an average score of 92% in the second validation phase. The average value of individual trials and field trials are 92% and 89%. It showed that the module had the feasibility of the material aspects, teaching materials, models, and the character value. The results of implementation of the module using onegrup pretest-posttest design is indicated that critical reading module with direct instruction model based on character are able to improve critical reading students.
