Abstract
This research aims to find out how the teacher teaches descriptive text in vocational high school. This research uses case study research design and the subject of this research is a teacher of English in a vocational high school in Bandung. This research employs qualitative method and intrinsic type of case study research design. The data are collected by conducting a classroom observation and an interview. The result showed that the teacher followed and fulfilled the instruction of standard process of teaching based on Curriculum 2013 and also mixed-up the teaching strategy between top-down and bottom-up strategies. Moreover, the materials used still have to be adapted to the students’ needs and students’ background as the students of drawing building technique of vocational high school.
