Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan yang terjadi di kelas VII-C SMP Kartika XIX-1 Bandung yang ditemukan peneliti pada saat melakukan observasi awal. Berdasarkan hasil observasi yang dilakukan oleh peneliti pada beberapa kali pertemuan dalam rentang waktu 11 Februari sampai 25 Februari 2014, peneliti menemukan permasalahan yaitu peserta didik memiliki pemahaman konsep yang kurang dalam pembelajaran IPS. Hal ini ditujukan dengan beberapa indikator permasalahan diantaranya banyak peserta didik yang bingung dan tidak dapat memberikan jawaban ketika guru menstimulus dengan melemparkan pertanyaan kepada peserta didik, pencapaian nilai peserta didik yang masih kurang, fokus peserta didik dalam kegiatan belajar mengajar (KBM) yang masih sangat rendah, masih banyaknya peserta didik yang ngobrol dengan teman yang lainnya sehingga menyebabkan kondisi kelas menjadi tidak kondusif. Apabila kondisi kelas sudah tidak kondusif maka kegiatan pembelajaran yang dilakukan oleh guru pun tidak akan dapat tercapai dengan maksimal. Konsep-konsep dalam pembelajaran IPS yang dilakukan oleh guru akan sulit dipahami oleh siswa dengan kondisi kelas yang kurang kondusif sehingga menyebabkan kurangnya pemahaman konsep IPS siswa. Alternatif pemecahan masalah yang menjadi pilihan peneliti yaitu dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran koopertif (cooperative learning) tipe make a match. Meninjau permasalahan yang akan diteliti berkaitan dengan proses pembelajaran, maka peneliti memilih Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan model Kemmis Mc. Taggart yang dilakukan dalam 4 siklus. Peningkatan pemahaman konsep peserta didik di kelas VII-C SMP Kartika XIX-1 Bandung melalui model pembelajaran kooperatif (cooperative learning) tipe make a match dapat dikatakan berhasil. Berhasilnya penelitian ini dilihat dari adanya peningkatan kuntitas dan kualitas pemahaman konsep peserta didik yang ditunjukkan melalui perkembangan aspek-aspek atau beberapa indikator dari kemampuan menerangkan, kemampuan menginterpretasi, kemampuan memberikan contoh (exampling), kemampuan mengklasifikasikan, kemampuan membandingkan. Seluruh aspek dari kemampuan-kemampuan yang dikembangkan untuk pemahaman konsep mengalami peningkatan dari siklus I hingga siklus 4 dari kualitas kurang, cukup, hingga baik. Kualitas kurang terlihat ketika hanya kemampuan menerangkan saja yang menonjol, kualitas cukup ketika seluruh aspek kemampuan dalam penilaian memperoleh nilai cukup dan kualitas baik ketika hampir seluruh aspek kemampuan yang dikembangkan dalam penelitian memperoleh nilai baik sehingga aspek-aspek dari seluruh kemampuan yang dikembangkan untuk dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep peserta didik dapat tercapai. Kesimpulannya bahwa model pembelajaran kooperatif (cooperative learning) tipe make a match dapat meningkatkan pemahaman konsep peserta didik.;--- This research is departed by problem that occurs in the class VII-C SMP Kartika XIX-1 Bandung that is found by the researcher during making the early observation. According to the result of observations that are done by the researcher in several meetings starts from 11th February 2014 until 25th February 2014, the researcher finds a problem that is the students have a lack of comprehension concept in Social studies. It is proposed with several problem indicators, such as there are many students which are obvious and they cannot give the answers when the teacher stimulates by asking questions to the students, the achievement of students’ grades which are still less, focus of the students in learning activities (KBM), there are still many students who still chat with others friends that affects the class condition is not conducive. If the class is not conducive, the learning activities which are done by the teacher will not be achieved maximally. The concepts in the Social studies that are done by the teacher will be difficult to understand by the students that the class condition is not conducive so that it causes the lack of students’ comprehension concept of Social studies. The alternative of problem solving that becomes the researcher’s option is by applying cooperative learning model types make a match. Reviewing the problem that will be studied relates to the learning process, so the researcher chooses Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) with model of Kemmis Mc. Taggart that is done in four cycles. The improvement of students’ comprehension concept in class VII-C SMP Kartika XIX-1 Bandung through cooperative learning model types make a match can be said to be successful. The success of this research is seen from the improvement of quantity and quality of students’ comprehension concept which is shown through the development of aspects or several indicators from explaining ability, interpreting ability, exampling ability, classifying ability, and comparing ability. All aspects of developed abilities for comprehension concept have increased from cycle I up to cycle 4 from bad, enough, until good quality. And the quality is good if almost all of develop abilities in research get good grades. The conclusion is that cooperative learning model types make a match can improve the students’ comprehension concept.
