    Abstract

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masalah kurangnya kemampuan siswa dalam keterampilan menulis ringkasan warta, karena tidak menguasai pembendaharaan kata dalam bahasa Sunda yang diungkapkan menjadi sebuah kalimat yang baik dan benar. Yang berakibat pada kurang mampunya siswa dalam mengungkapkan gagasan menulis ringkasan warta. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode studi kuasi eksperimen. Dengan menggunakan desain pretest and posttest group. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini sebanyak 30 siswa yang diambil dari satu kelas, yaitu kelas VIII D SMP Negeri 5 Bandung. Teknik yang digunakan adalah teknik tes. Adapun instrumen yang digunakan adalah lembar teks warta. Dari hasil analisis, dapat disimpulkan bahwa (1) kemampuan menulis ringkesan warta sebelum menggunakan model Group Investigation hasilnya dengan nilai rata-rata 72,13; (2) kemampuan menulis ringkesan warta sesudah menggunakan model Group Investigation hasilnya dengan skor rata-rata 83,1; dan (3) ada perbedaan yang signifikan antara kemampuan menulis ringkesan warta siswa kelas VIII D SMP Negeri 5 Bandung sebelum dan sesudah menggunakan model Group Investigation berdasarkan hasil titung (7,56) > ttabél (2,46). Hal ini menunjukan bahwa hipotesis kerja (Ha) diterima dan hipotesis nol (Ho) ditolak. Dengan demikian, model Group Investigation bisa meningkatkan kemampuan menulis ringkesan warta siswa kelas VIII D SMP Negeri 5 Bandung taun ajaran 2014/2015.;---The backrgound of this research is the lack of student’s skills writing summary of news due to their poor Sundanisee vocabularies. This causes by they are not able to pour their idea into a proper and correct sentence and so their ability to summarize the main points of the news in hindered. This reasearch ia a quasi experiment with pretest and posttes group design. The samples of this reasearch are 30 students of 8th grader of SMPN 5 Bandung. Group Investigation model was applied into this sample. The technique of test is used and the instrument used is news paper. From the data analysis, we can conclude that (1) before the model of Group Investigation is applied, the average of student’s skills in writting summery of news is 72,13; (2) after the model of Group Investigation is applied, the average of student’s skills in writting summery of news is 83,1; (3) there is a significant difference between the student’s skills in summarizing news before and after applying the model of Group Investigation. The reasearch show that the testing hypothesis is accepted and the null hypothesis is rejacted. So that the model of Group Investigation can enhance the ability of summarizing news of 8th grader of SMPN 5 Bandung in the academic years 2014/2015.
