Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh permasalahan yang ditemukan peneliti pada saat observasi awal di kelas VIII-A SMP Laboratorium Percontohan UPI. Hasil observasi, peneliti menemukan permasalahan bahwasanya peserta didik harus meningkatkan rasa percaya dirinya agar dapat meminimalisir tingkat kecemasan ketika berbicara di depan umum dan menyampaikan sebuah gagasan di kelas. Kurangnya rasa percaya diri pada siswa ditunjukkan dengan beberapa indikator permasalahan diantaranya siswa cenderung takut salah, siswa menganggap dirinya tidak lebih pintar dari orang lain, siswa saling mengandalkan, partisipasi yang minim dari siswa dalam menanggapi permasalahan sosial, dan beberapa kecemasan lainnya yang membuat siswa tidak memiliki motivasi dalam mengikuti proses pembelajaran di kelas. Alternatif pemecahan masalah yang menjadi pilihan peneliti yaitu dengan menerapkan model pembelajaran advokasi sebagai salah satu model pembelajaran yang penting dalam mengembangkan pemikiran siswa dan merefleksi apa yang telah diajarkan di kelas. Pembelajaran ini juga efektif dalam mewujudkan peserta didik yang tangguh dalam mempertahankan argumen namun tetap menghargai perbedaan pendapat. Sehingga siswa akan terlatih untuk tampil percaya diri melalui model pembelajaran tersebut. Meninjau permasalahan yang akan diteliti berkaitan dengan proses pembelajaran, maka peneliti memilih Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan model Kemmis Mc. Taggart yang dilakukan dalam tiga siklus. Berdasarkan data hasil penelitian, dari tujuh indikator yang telah disusun dalam penelitian ini, semuanya telah mencapai kriteria penilaian baik. Ketujuh indikator tersebut telah mencapai penilaian “baik” yang turut menegaskan bahwa penelitian tindakan kelas ini berhasil dilakukan. ;--- This study was conducted since there was a problem found on the initial observation in class VIII-A SMP Laboratorium Percontohan UPI. The result of the observation shows a problem that students must increase their confidence in order to minimalize the worry level when they speak in front of a public and deliver an idea at class. The less confidence which students face was demonstrated by some problems. Those are the students tend to act wrong, the students judge himself is not as clever as the other people, the students who always depend on each other, the minimum participation from the students in responding social problem, and several other worries which make students do not have motivation in joining in a learning process at class. Problem solving alternative selected was by applying advocation learning model as one of an important learning model in developing students’ thinking and reflected what had been taught at class. This learning is effective in creating the tough students in maintaining argument, yet they insist to appreciate a different opinion. So that, students will be more confidence through that learning model. Considering the problem which will be studied, Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) with Kemmis Mc. Taggart model was selected and it was conducted in three cycles. According to the study result, from seven indicators arranged, all of them have reached good estimation. The seven indicators have reached “good” estimation which affirms that this class action is done.
