Abstract

Museum pada hakekatnya adalah tempat penyimpanan benda yang memiliki nilai sejarah dan budaya untuk kepentingan pendidikan dan rekreasi. Media interpretasi menjadi salah satu bagian penting dalam penyampain informasi mengenai benda yang ada di museum. Museum Geologi Bandung merupakan salah satu museum yang sedang melaksanakan renovasi untuk penerapan media interpretasi. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mencari media interpretasi yang sesuai dengan karakteristik dan persepsi wisatawan, sehingga memaksimalkan informasi yang ada di Museum Geologi Bandung. Penelitian ini mengunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif dengan teknik analisis data triangulasi. Populasi dalam metode ini adalah pengunjung Museum Geologi Bandung, sedangkan sampel yang diambil sebanyak 100 responden yang merupakan bagian dari populasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengembangan yang diharapkan oleh pengunjung adalah media Interpretasi Personal dan media Interpretasi Non Personal. Kemudian setelah diketahui hasilnya penulis memberikan saran mengenai pengembangan interpretasi. Saran tersebut adalah pengembangan media interpretasi yang atraktif dan inovatif serta penerapan teknologi dalam pengembangannya.;---Museum essentially is a storage area for objects that have a value of history, nature, and culture for the benefit of education and recreation. Media interpretation becomes an important part in informing about the objects in museum. Bandung Geological Museum is one of the museum that are carrying out renovations to apply the media interpretation. The purpose of this research is search media interpretation that suitable with characteristics and perception of tourists’ so as to maximize the information in Bandung Geological Museum This research uses descriftive qualitative analysis method with triangulation. The population in this methods is the whole visitor of Bandung Geological Museum, while sample taken from 100 respondent who are part of the population. Based on the result it can be concluded the delopment which is expected by the visitor are media personal interpretation dan non personal interpretation. When the result are known, the authors suggest how to development of attractive and innovative interpretation and apply the technology in interpretation development.
