Abstract
Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh masih banyaknya siswa yang mengalami kesulitan mengungkapkan ide atau gagasan dan menuliskan runtututan peristiwa yang akan ditulisnya dalam menulis karangan narasi. Hal ini disebabkan oleh guru yang masih menggunakan metode ceramah dalam mengajarkan menulis karangan.Untuk mengatasi hal tersebut, peneliti melakukan Penelitian Tindakan Kelas dengan menerapkan metode mind mapping. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh data mengenai RPP, proses pelaksanaan, dan peningkatan keterampilan menulis karangan narasi pada siswa kelas IV di SDN S dengan menerapkan metode mind mapping. Partisipan penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV SDN S yang berjumlah 28 orang siswa. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Penelitian Tindakan Kelas (PTK) dengan desain dari Kemmis dan Mc Taggart. Pengumpulan data dilakukan melalui observasi dan tes. Data kualitatif berupa hasil observasi diolah melalui 4 langkah yaitu reduksi data, pengelompokan data, display data, dan interpretasi data. Data kuantitatif berupa hasil tes diolah dengan cara menghitung rata – rata kelas dan persentase ketuntasan. Hasil penelitian dengan penerapan mind mapping menunjukkan peningkatan pada setiap siklusnya. Pada siklus I nilai rata – rata siswa diperoleh 72,3 dengan presentse ketuntasan 60,7% pada siklus II nilai rata – rata siswa meningkat menjadi 82,7 dengan persentase ketuntasan 75% dan pada siklus III nilai rata – rata siswa meningkat menjadi 88,3 dengan persentase ketuntasan 92,8%. Dengan demilkian dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan metode mind mapping dapat meningkatkan keterampilan menulis karangan narasi;--- This research is motivated by many students who have difficulty in expressing an idea and writing sequence of events that will be written in a narrative essay writing. This is due to the teachers who still use speech method in teaching writing essay. To overcome this issue researcher conducts a classroom action research by applying the mind mapping method. This study aims to obtain data about the RPP, the process of implementation and improvement of skill of narrative essay writing at the fourth grade students at SDN S by applying the mind mapping method. Participants of this study are fourth grade students at SDN S consist of twenty eight students. The method used is the classroom action research (PTK) with the design of Kemmis and Mc Taggart. Data are collected through observation and tests. Results of the qualitative data are processed through four steps: data reduction, data grouping, data display, and interpretation of data. Quantitative data of test results are processed by calculating the average score of class and percentage of completeness. The results of the study with the implementation of mind mapping method show gains in each cycle. In the first cycle, the average score gained 72.3 with percentage of completeness is 60.7%. In the second cycle average score is increased to 82.7 with percentage of completeness is 75%. In the third cycle average score is increased to 88,3 with percentage of completeness is 92.8%. It can be concluded that the application of mind mapping method can improve writing narrative essay skill.
